Peugeot and Renault always did have terrible electrics, I have no idea why people bought them.

I'll be keen to see what your dealer says.

I went in today

the guy who sold us the car said they should have replaced it the first time!

showed them the video

they agreed I had a problem

still want the car overnight to check it [:@]

they said they have a new full unit on the shelf waiting to go in but they need the ok of seat uk and that they have to investigate it fully first!

they also asked me to email them the video so they can show that to seat uk

It's the same with anything. Seat won't authorise any work or parts unless they see the fault. Kinda crappy if you have an intermittent fault.

New twist on the screen silliness.

Last Thursday evening I got into the car, radio comes on but the screen remains dark. Totally unlit. Touched the screen and it was working normally, I could change the stations etc, but the screen was blacked-out.

I tried turning the radio/unit off and on again, switching to other functions, stayed off. I took a video. I don't know how to upload it though. Switched off the ignition and the screen came on when I restarted the car.

So I called the dealer, as you do, but they were..not that helpful. Repeated several times that Seat wouldn't do anything until I'd tried cleaning the screen, even when I suggested that a dirty screen was kinda unlikely to stop it from switching on, and said that if they took it in to test and found no fault they would charge me for it.

She kept on saying the same things, even when I pointed out I had a video of the fault and it was very unlikely an intermittent fault would show while they had the car. Oh, and she also said the cold could make the screen play up. Terrific! I'll just no use the car when it's cold then. Not very impressed. Do they think people just make up imaginary faults for the fun of it? Why would you complain about something that is working perfectly?

I got the same impression when I complained about mine and they said they can't fault it!

I got a video as you may have seen and showed it to them the tech guy ask for me to email it but the snotty cow behind the desk insisted that they booked the car in for at least 2 days so they could see the fault and diagnose it while its doing it!!

I haven't heard anything from them yet and I am off to pick the car up tomorrow!

I sent the video on the 3/11 and only got the read receipt today!!

The thing that bugs me is that Seat must be aware of the faults as I'm sure lots of cars will manifest the same faults. Yet the dealers always say they don't know about these faults. Either they are lying or they are not doing their jobs very well.

Sad that a bunch of guys on an internet forum know these cars better than the dealers do.

What really made me laugh was the guy who sold me the car said straight away we will order a new screen which the did well they got the full lot ready to go in!!

but the service side won't fit it till they have diagnosed it!

The sales guy had one as a demo car and that did the same thing they replaced the screen and it solved the problem!!

so its ok for the service to look after their own but not us customers!!

suppose I should update my findings on this

SEAT had the car for 2 days and couldn't fault the screen

they fitted a known good one out of another car and told me to keep an eye on it and if it works fine they will order a new screen

its been spot on with no problems after 2 weeks

I am off in at 2 to get a new screen fitted

bit of perseverance and I got there in the end!!

so if your having touchscreen troubles get speaking to your dealer

I really need to get mine booked in and looked at. Years later and I'm still putting up with it.

Mines a company car so the hassle of getting it sorted is even worse.

I'll get a video of it for the dealer to show them.

Yesterday, the screen was unresponsive and again, we took a video of it.

I called the dealer today, I think it was the same woman I spoke to, and got the same answer; we can look at it but if we can't find a fault you'll be charged. I said that with an intermittent fault that means we're pretty much guaranteed to get charged and she said 'I suppose so'.

I told her I wasn't very happy about that, talked about the videos again and asked if this was Seat's policy or theirs? She didn't know so went away and asked the service manager and he's asked me to send him the videos. Hopefully they'll do the right thing and fix the screen, we'll see.

KInda annoyed. Just asked my wife to give me the video off her phone and she's taken still pictures by mistake! :0( So no video of the screen not responding. Not a happy bunny...
