Loss of power

I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.

Over the past few weeks I've noticed that my car is feeling abit sluggish on acceleration.

I can hear my turbo spinning up fine, but I can hear almost like a hissing sound when accelerating. Just feels to be holding back and using a bit more fuel than normal.

I think I may have a split or a hole in one of the boost pipes. The car is still running all original hosing and is on an 03 plate.

Has anybody tried one of these kits off ebay?

Can anybody ID all the hoses please? I recognise some of them but not all.

Thanks

They look like horrible cheap ones! I would recommend getting a full 5 piece Forge Boost Hose set. The set you linked to seems to show 7 hoses and the TIP, with the Forge set you don't get a TIP included but the 5 pieces covers all of the boost pipe set up so not sure what that extra one is for. If you are looking for a new TIP as well, I would recommend an SFS Oversized one which is about £125 :)

Thanks for the reply mate. I thought the quality seemed abit poor.

I've had a look at creation motorsports boost kit and they seem pretty good. I've used there replacement pcv hoses without any problems.

I've always heard mixed things about Creation Motorsports products... some people have never had a problem running them where as others have had them collapsing under vacuum. With something like boost hoses I would always want to stick with highly regarded brands such as Forge and SFS but as with everything its all down to personal choice and unfortunately moneys! :)

Mine had a split on the hose coming directly off the turbo, worth a look.

I think sometimes it luck of the draw with some things. Today I picked up creation motorsport tip and boost hose set. Get them fitted on monday.

Went and saw my mechanic today as my mot is due in 2 weeks. He had a quick look at a few things for me, pointed out my front discs and pads are badly worn. Also I've noticed that I've got abit of play in my steering, so he thinks the bushes or track rod ends maybe on the way out. So looks like some more shopping and upgrading.:)

Have you got an aftermarket recirc valve? On my golf turbo I had the same fault and it turned out the the rubber o ring seal for the piston in the dump valve had come off. This was causing the noise and lack of power, might be worth a quick look

I've got a forge 007p recirc valve mate. I'll have a quick look when the new hoses go on.

I almost brought a rreplacement one the other day.

Thanks for the help.
