Lost My Key

I own a W reg Seat Leon 1.4S. Lost my key with remote a few days ago. Quoted between £140-£160 for a new one but after researching in this forum, i hope i could do it cheaper. Just to clarify i hope someone could answer my questions.

1. Could i just buy a fob from eBay and use my spare key on it and coding it using the guide in this forum without my old key or going to the dealer?

2. If someone actually found my old key could they still use it to unlock & drive my car after i code the new fob with the spare key?

3. If the fob comes with a blank key, can i cut it and function as spare without problem of locking/unlocking or starting the engine with/without coding?

Thank you.

Yep - done this myself. Fob cost me £12.50 on Ebay (best guides are in the Ibiza section)

Unfortunately, yes - if you wanted to stop this happening, it would be a dealer job.....

Your car will start, but wont last long & your alarm will go off. You need the new blade cut, and the transponder placed in the new key, and then coded (by yourself)

well you can pick up a new fob for pennies but it re programming to start the engine thats costly.
I know people who have simple bought a fob that will open the door but not start the engine and then used the standard key to start engine.
Personally thats a pain in the arse but everyones got their own ways.
