Low MPG and smell of petrol

My car also smells like a petrol station all the time and uses a lot of fuel maybe i should check my pipes then is it easy to do would i need any special tools to do it?
Well mines decided to start using more, so off came the air feed to the throttle body to find it caked in oil and other crap!
Further investigation revealed the mother of all holes in the crank case breather pipe, so much so that its on the verge of snapping off all together. It had gone through where it rests on the block near the cambelt. New breather ordered and some carb cleaner is needed to run through too i think.
Oh and my tyres were only at 24psi too which probably was the biggest contributing factor.
300miles in 3 days coming up for it though, so a good test run
