A'righty...

Had a Cupra r a couple of years back, modded around a bit, had some fun....then parted company....
Had some cracking cars since then from MK4 R32, Focus ST (heavily Modded  ) and latterly a MK5 R32 with DSG [B)] .

Loved the MK5 - a true piece of engineering....But too perfect !....and....I missed the charge of a turbo !...so...

I was looking at the new Cupra as a prospective buy...test drove it..not bad..but was a bit underwhelmed by it's looks !...Then...

A rather cheeky chappie in a bright yellow LCR toasted me in a straight line bit of bravado !.. ....it reminded me of my regret at parting too quickly with mine...and you know....I really liked the look of the car....There's just no mistaking an LCR aggressive sporty look for anything else in the range ... unlike the new Cupra..er.. FR ?!?

So what did I do ?...

I went and bought an '05' LCR ...barely run in at 16K....and.......... added a dash of Revo  ......yep...the moddin has started again...I'm in Love !

So.......without starting the old LCR & new Cupra debate ......

wot you reckon ....Madness ?

PS Not sure if I'm too used to the R32..but suspension seems a little crashy....checked it out & the struts/dampers/springs look ok..
Can't remember if the suspension was crashy on my previous LCR...

Is this Normal ?

LCR is very crashy. I'm cringing a large part of my B road commute - but have got avoiding holes and imperfections in the road down to a fine art. It must look a bit odd following me though.

Not madness at all! Still think the LCR looks too good compared to some of the newer hot hatches :D

Im getting used to avoiding potholes/bumps etc on my journey now. Think of it as a new game to play on the way to work, trying to dodge them! :D

What colour you go for?

There are crashy, no doubt. What tyres are on it?

It's original Pzeros.

lol...now I remember that game !

Had Platinum grey before...this time went for Luna Silver/grey...I've been over it for hours - wheels off & cleaned, brakes cleaned, rubbers and plastics nice & Lubed..Feck...it looks like it just rolled off the production line !..[B)]

Out of curiosity what did you think of your MKIV R32?

A fantastic car !...well planted & solid !...with a nice tendancy for a sideways slide !Performance wise not that much different to the MK5....in some respects ....dare I say better looking !...
If your seriously thinking about it ....make sure it's one with the leather koenigs...If you've ever sat in one..you'll know what i mean when i say...you get what you pay for - true German workmanship !

....

LCR a future classic?

My feelings on both counts !.....hence my choice !

.

I'll try not to follow through !!! lol:cartman:

To add some balance to this I also owned a MK1 LCR with Revo loved it, but now I drive a MK2 Cupra with Revo (300bhp  ) it is far more user friendly and I feel I can use all of the power available (even in the wet) something which I couldn't in the LCR, to sum it up revo'd LCR=brutal power and very fast, Revo'd Cupra=refined and very very fast. :D what i'm trying to say is don't write off the Cupra cause of it's looks, drive it and rev it hard.

Hello cooooooooooooopra! :)

How did ya find the ST once modded? Still a mentalist or even worse of a mentalist? :p

I'm forever weighing up my next potential car and I've settled on the Focus RS. But then, there's always the potential of the ST being the smarter choice.

:scary: absolutely bloody mental !

The sound of the car under throttle is absolute DB's (especially when you add a full Milltek turbo back system..;) )
Mines (ST3 Performance blue), had a wolf kit added - stripes, c pillar trims, bootlid lower lip spoiler, lowered on eibachs, BMC Induction kit, pro alloy intercooler and as above the Milltek system...all this with added Bluefin stage 2 !..

300bhp.. ...and how that FWD mother could handle it !

Blew my mind....and would probably pretty soon thereafter blew my licence !

The RS is a cracking car...but the ST is a technological marvel....but not everyones cup of tea looks wise....I reckon though, that my mods made it a true stand out - even lowering it alone improves the look....and boy did those scoobys get a fright !

Was trying to get some pics of the car on this thread...but I'm obviously not the techno wizard i thought I was !.:(

I've always been a fan of the actuator, there solely to make it noisier :)

Christ, I'd love a tuned ST 3.

Tell ya what fella... remind me why I love Ford so much. Mail me some of them piccys to [email protected] :)

mm.. turbo fords...

Oh hell yeh.. I got no beef with the 2.5T T5 lump... it's awesome.

I was eluding to Fords previous efforts in the Duratec, CVH and X-Flow lumps.

I kinda assumed you were talking about the 'classic' Fords. I still remember my early years in my Dads Mk2 Fiesta XR2 with that distinctive CVH sound.

where abouts in Glasgow you from buddy ?

prob seen many of your cars kicking about

i am still debating a LCR or CUPRA TDI tbh

i am running a mk4 astra GSI turbo just now and its always returned 25-30 mpg so i know the fuel costs of the LCR wont kill me but just not sure :D
