Hi i have a 2001 1.8t seat leon cupra . I have some strange problems with my maf and loss of power slightly and random limp mode no boost until i disconect maf and then runs fine . But this is weird bit when you remove plug from maf it trigors traction control light on dash.my car did not register the maf disconected no light but car ran fine and conect maf again and runs ok and then intermitent loss of power and limp mode . So disconect and drive about as usual and five days later randomly light comes on as if it has just noticed maf is disconected so i reconect and it fine in fact felt clean and powerfull but then started running bad again so now again maf is disconected abd running well but if i plug it in and drive it it will end up losung power and end up havin to remove plug from maf again but then it dosnt register its disconected again can you plz help me no codes other then from maf bein disconected . . Thankyou .

Also the reading of grams per second on the maf sensor are low i believe shud be atleast 3gs at idle and up to 4 or 5 and iv noticed wiv my sensor if i turn vehicle on and reconect sensor the reading will be 2.75 flashing 3 on and off and then if i watch maf figures over few munutes the 3 gs will drop dwn to 2.75 then 2.50 then 2.25 til it drops to 1.75 but no change in idle and if i drive it when i see the decline its not right it seems strained and hesitant and then limp mode until i disconect again . If any one has had or solved or any ideas as to wat is happening with this situation . Any one ?

first port of call is the maf then, they are common for going as these cars are knocking on abit.

only buy a genuine one tho as some pattern parts are ropey at best

Ecu will take a little while to recognise something has been disconnected and traction control will be off with maf disconnected, but if the car drives fine with maf unplugged then looks like your maf is up the shoot Iv gone through 2 in 4 years

Thankyou for replys . I neglected to mention that this is the 3rd sensor i have had all bosch two was second hand but all started off with higher readings then when the problem happens but other sensors that failed did so slightly differently the first made car run lean wiv code and idle was hunting and other one bad fuel economy aswel as misfires and this one slight missfire a on idle and then loss of boost and limp mode

Work i have done to this car within 7 months new smf conversion with 3piece clutch kit and new ko3s turbo and had turbo technics uprated seals and 360 bearing. Forge tip. forge 007p dump valve and cold air feed and non res no box middle and power flow rear box . Stage 1 remap running at 16psi and also 3 maf sensors one new bosch and two used good useable sensors but lasted a month or two longest was new one 3 months but intermittently would be strage and hesitant ocasionally i have cleaned tv and ait sensor and map sensor and i have added injector cleaner and i have tryd to clean sensor to no avail and tryed standard air box vs cone filter no difference . I changed spark plugs and pcv valve and checkd all vacume hoses and leaks i can not locate any :-(
