Sounds like what it is :) it's a small lump of clay that you rub over lubricated paint and it picks up a lot of the tar and other debris that's lodged into the clear coat of your paint. When I've clayed friends (neglected) cars after doing it they always look a million times better!

So i just get the bar and rub it all over the car? Do you need to wipe any residue or anything off afterwards?

Ahhh ok think i got it now haha::p told you guys i was a noob at this!

I didn't know anything about detailing until about 2 years ago when all i used was fairy liquid lol. Claying basically removes all contaminents so that you get the best looking and feeling paintwork ever lol

Haha ive just been using tcut and colour magic for the last 2 years:( so i know ive got this right... I should wash the car, clay the car gently, rinse the car, polish the car then wax the car?

Here's a wee basic routine for you to try if you have a day to kill :)

Prewash (preferably snow foam but a pressure hose blast will do if you don't have snow foam)
Sponge using a bucket with soapy water and a bucket of clean water for rinsing the sponge (preferably a lambs wool mit)
Clay bar
Rinse
Dry car
De-tar and glue (preferably tardis)
Masking tape on plastics (if machine polishing)
Heavy cut polish (megs #105)
Finishing polish (farecla G10)
Wipe down/rinse and dry
Glaze (poor boys world black hole is ideal!)
Treat plastics
Clean glass and apply rainX
Wax (autoglym HD is awesome on black cars)

Another coat of wax a few hours later if you like :)

Correct! Just make sure the clay doesn't stick to the paintwork otherwise it'll leave horrible scratches everywhere so use plenty of quick detailer to lube up lol. You should avoid using t-cut too much too, it's very abbrasive and i reckon your car will be very swirly in the sun cos you've been using it :(

I spent all today doing that to my parents car looks much better and scratch free now :) Only thing is the pad ripped off the machine and the velcro backing plate burnt through their back bumpers paint about 2.5 inches long! Now i'll have to get it sorted :(

No, the pad was just a shite one and it crumbled away when it got too warm and eventually ripped off :( Was actually gutted! Wonder how much a back bumper respray on a range rover sport costs lol? Dad said not to worry about it (surprised he said that tbh!) but i think i should fix it...
