save up for the MFD3 it's so worth it. I have one and the satnav is much better than the TomTom I had. Also it has a HDD built in and can play DVD's.

@potter
Lily from audiosources stated that it is AS7301 with new canbus interface (it is actual model they sell)

@bobotheclown
iGO8 is way ahead of factory VW/Seat navi sw... in both terms of software features and maps
also AS7301 can play divx also besides dvd, and also can play movies from ipod/sd card (and new revision will be fitted with usb mass storage device so there won't be problem to link some external usb 2.5" hard drive with let's say 250gb storage space)... also u get tv tuner (analogue) built in... amp lvl outputs for f/r speakers and sw... output for rear monitors (supports dual zone) and input for camera (reverse or if you like front bumper mounted for some action recording :D )... and it costs like 3x less...

@ 13snc

When you installed the unit do you get any VAGCOM errors?

When I retrofitted Nav last month I keep getting an error saying the diversity antenna is knackered. On the A3 they run a different antenna system on the cars WITH nav, to those without.

I now have to find another £250 just to buy an enhanced upper diversity antenna, associated fakra cabling and connectors. It's in at the dealers today, so I am fascinated to see if they notice the error and if they tell me about it!

you know they dont look at the codes before pressing 'clear all'.
audi or not, you pay your service money for a gallon of oil, to have your tyres kicked, and a stamp in the book!

let us know.

they've got no chance!

As soon as I told him that they don't need to change the air filter (I've got aftermarket panel) he went to get on his high horse then for a split second his brain kicked in and realised they could charge Audi GmBH for work they don't need to do (the car is on fixed maintenance plan so I don't pay at the service - just monthly amount). They are truly awful.

I have witson and factory bluetooth and one cancel's the other. on the original unit you have 2 pin connector on the back side for can comunnication with bluetooth module (mute while incomming/outgoing calls, stearing wheel controls vol up/down, answer/hang up,...). on witson, you do not have where to connect this pins, it has only standard iso connector, so original bluetooth is still active all the time (unless you turn it off thrue vag), and you also have bluetooth from witson (as "car kit") but it's not working well at all. there is no phonebook function, incomming/outgoing calls are passing thrue very slow, sound is questionable, mic on the device is very poor. all to all not a good solution as handsfree system, and this is one of my biggest complains for witson.

Just to say that also audiosources (selling witson over the internet) is very laim company, my device was working for two days, break down, payed a local guy to fix it, asked for some help from seller - he was playing dumb for 3 months, finally I gave up even contacting them but they are still from time to time sendig me email in a way: hello dear ..., what's up, how are you and then - we have some new models, just say to us how many do you want and we will give you the price...:wtf:

sorry for so long post:happy:

cheers

And the winner is ChrisBoyle999: Audi didn't so much as mention the 2 error codes I have - noted another is where I have coded the iPod as a CD multiplayer :doh:.

They also put a cross in the box for an oil change in the service schedule rather than a tick so it looks to a future buyer like they didn't do it.... until they read the receipts and see a charge for 8 x 0.5 ltr of oil, a sump plug and an oil filter. Dealers are 'summut else'!

And back on thread

I'm really interested in one of these now you can change the screens. Where did anyone buy them from?

Nice find. The headunit looks the business but that bloke bored my arse off after a while. Still, fair play to him for posting it up.

I'd like to see one of these units in the flesh to see how sturdy the buttons etc are but from what I've read here and on other forums these units look really good.

We just need to find a reputable seller now and organise a group buy.....:D

Must say I'm more tempted by the witson rather than the waywell. The waywell looks a better unit but if the menus are editable on the witson I think it will have the edge.

it will be possible on the waywell too as they are both glorified pda's.
its just a case of waiting for someone to write an editor. i guess software buffs will write programs for the most popular units as theres more potential profit.
if the waywell doesnt prove popular it may never happen even though it is possible.

I think that Waywell WD6050 and Witson W2-D723V are the same units. As well as Audiosources AS-7301 and Maisun MT-6501.
