does this new unit have the same slow phonebook problems as the other ones as i wont be buying one of these units till this functions works well
 
didn't looked at that, only used numerical touchscreen kb and I saw that it picked up name from my phonebook when i hit dial
 
Mine is being fitted next Saturday so ill put some pics up, and comments about the install when its done.

bqd - does the factory bluetooth work with the system (I think you mentioned you had factory bluetooth)?
 
yes I have factory bt also... it doesn't work but i reckon that it just takes switching black and white wires from factory hu connector (tel +/-) and link them to one of aux inputs of unit...

there is stil Phone menu on MFD and bluetooth still works... only no sound...
 
How does the quality compare opposed to using the Factory BT, to the Waywell BT?
 
pairing goes smooth, touchscren kb is a big plus, factory ringtone is much pleasant though... sound is good, looks like they fixed mic problem also with this last revision...

just to prepare you, you'll need to cut square piece of plastic on bottom of "cage" because part of new unit where sd card slots are located will hit it and unit won't be able to be pushed fully inside... just use scalpel blade and cut it, 30sec job :) as for GPS antenna, I routed mine behind glovebox and through a pillar to corner of windshield and then to center of windshield right in front of climatronic temp sensor and grill :) reception is great and it looks decent :)

Can someone please tell me where I can download Igo 8.3 from, or whatever version is now available?

Will the unit work if I buy a TomTom SD card?

TomTom works but iGo is apparently better. Get yourself onto golfmkv.com in the Autralia forum and PM Oskar. He's supplied people with iGo as yours only has USA maps.
 
there been any problems with this new unit has the phonebook feature been fixed and not hanging after the first page etc?
 
could you give me info of where yours was ordered from etc then please as the main selling point for me was the handsfree phonebook and satnav
