Milltek or mufflerectomy???

Right guys, so my car will be going in for the dpf delete and map at some point over the next 2 months at either darkside or s.hark.

Just wondering if its worth getting the milltek or just get a stainless pipe made up locally at Powerflow with or without a backbox?

Anyone else running a pd170 with no backbox and whats it like?

Is there any need for a backbox? I know the 1.9tdi can get away with no backbox but any ideas on the 2.0 tdi??

Leero has it on his 2.0tdi no backbox, not a 170pd tho

I ran with Milltek for a year and it was a little boring (Non-Res version)

I then lent my car to Scorpion for them to develop a Leon Cat-Back and they rang me and asked me what i wanted leaving on the car.. I said No boxes at all

I was left with a Milltek Downpipe with no DPF or Car, Mated upto a 3" pipe with no boxes on it and it was very loud!

A chap on here has done the same recently but with 2.75" and its not half as loud

Just watched it there mate, is that just a 3" pipe straight off the down pipe? Sounds really loud, would it pass mot's like that?

I fancy getting mine done like that as I don't wanna pay daft money for a milltek

I doubt it would of passed an MOT, And yes it was basically 3" from turbo to back

There's a video of me doing a tunnel run on there somewhere aswell. When i had it on the RR people from next door buildings where coming over to see what the noise was all about, when i told them it was a diesel they where shocked.


if i was you id pay somebody to chop the backbox off first, see how you like that (Standard PD170 exhaust has no middle box anyway) if its to loud they can simply weld back box back on, if its not loud enough then you can get a 2.75" exhaust made

Yeah that seems to make sense, I'm gonna wait a while anyway, I don't see the point in forking out for the dpf delete when it hasn't gave me any hassle yet.

Does the dpf restrict the sound at all?

Haven't got a clue with this dpf carry on like, should of stuck to my pd140 haha

Yes the DPF restricts flow of gasses and sound, equivelant of a Cat on a petrol, fit a 3" downpipe to a petrol and exahust sound changes (ive just fitted a 3" on my LCR and its changed alot)
