Miltek exhaust problem

i have just fitted a decat/ full exhaust to my pd 130 ibiza and having a problem with it making a loud noise! i have looked under neath and the car is too low and the pipe is rattling against the top of the exhaust path and the bracket that holds brake pipe on the axle!

the problem could be solved if i ground down the bracket but there is a hole in it and i am wondering what that hole is for and if i actually need it! i wasnt sure whether it was for an anti roll bar or something!

does anyone kno if there is anything else i can do without highering the car on the coilovers. it is all the way down at the momment with the adjusters out, but it looks go so wanna avoid it!

maybe the bracket wasn't welded on correctly leaving the exhaust slightly loose

na the bracket i want to grind down is on the rear axle which holds the brake pipe on, there is just another hole on the bracket and i am not sure wat it is for! it is where the exhaust rises over the axles!

any ideas?

i had the same problem with mine, just undo the exhaust clamps and jack the exhaust up a bit then retighten the clamps it should give you some more clearance.

I also cut the bracket and this has stopped the rattle.

that is stop on! cheers mate,1 i am going to grind the bracket off i think, loosen the whole system and spend some time sorting it out. Oh, and have no one in the back of the car lol!! saves me rising it up!

I also have this problem when 1 or more persons sit in the back! So all you need to do to fix this is cut the bracket that sits above the rear axle still a bit confused?

na, thats fine, i was just unsure wat is does! i want to fit an anti roll bar eventually and i dont want to cut anything then find out i need the bracket.

My adjuster cups are out, so there probably no room for it to rattle anyways lol. It does occaisonally, but only when pulling away with revs below 1k.

ye same as mine, i got no adjuster cups, thats y i need to take that bracket off. i am a bit afraid that it will dent the exhaust!

Put some sticky back foam in there.

should this rattling really be happening atall on such a highly priced exhaust it should fit perfect not be hitting things,i would say maybe the exhaust was fitted poorly but as its happened to quite a thew it must be a bad design paying all that money for a supposebly quality exhaust for it to then rattle on a bracket just says bad design to me unless milltek advise you cut the bracket off.

My exhaust fit perfectly, Alex. I did take a little "tweeking" to sit properly, but its the same thing with any exhaust (standard or uprated).

I'd say its a fitting issue and just needs adjusting.

exhausts can be a right pain unless you have the car above your head then its easy then.
so all the people who have cut the bracket off didnt really need to?

Cant remember how close the bracket was on mine but it has never ever rattled from day one

I did fit it on a ramp though

Go and get it re-fitted correctly! I had the same problem on old car until I took it to a VAG specialist who said it wasn't fitted correctly
