missfire recgonition

Hi guys has anyone ran this on their cupras?
mine is in the dealers tomorrow so thought i would do some logs and all my cylinders are missfiring on tickover with no fault codes present.
can some others please log this if they get the chance.

Mods please do not move to vagcom section i am after Cupra specific values

As far as im aware the 2.0TFSI is known to misfire under normal operation, im not sure whether it was all the cylinders or just a one or two of them. There was a indepth thread about it iirc but I cannot remember when or where.

Could be tumble flap motors rob! All mine needed was a reset (basic setting with vag-com), car had like an off beat v8 type idle thing going on! Although it could need the motors replacing! Common fault apprantly! OR as has been said it could just be normal! Does the car shake/rock on idle? Mine misfires if you log it with vag com, but then aren't tub cars normally slightly lumpy?

hi mate , the rev counter is solid at 850 rpm but you can feel the car hunting though , my car pops and bangs on gear change around the 2500 rpm mark , and if you rev the car at standstill up to about 3500 rpm you get the sound of a lot of back pressure being released out the back of the exhaust like a v8 or aftermarket exhaust , these are same symptoms i had before my cylinder head was changed.

yes its normal to see ocasional misfire, the occasional 1 in a cylinder, even from a car straight from the factory.

i will keep you updated mate to what is found , the worse thing is i know something is wrong but also know it will get a clean bill of health , thats the worrying thing.

In Greece is about 500 euros for parts and labor - in UK it should be cheaper (at least the parts).

If understand your question correctly there is no official acceptance to these issues. Seat here does not recognise the missfire issues nor they approve the valve sping change as they say there is no such problem. In reality they do not want to accept that it was their mistake using lower/softer springs on MY09 cars. For those that their cars have these springs it's just a matter of time for missfires start happening as the springs are getting softer due to use. All I know guys that had missfire issues did the change and now the problems are gone.

how did they find out the valve springs were rubish? must have come from somewhere or is it a tuning company just trying to sell more parts?

The replacement springs are of SEAT's from pre MY09 cars. There are no aftermarket parts involved. Two of the guys that did the change are friends who had serious troubles with their cars. They changed half their car in parts trying to replace possible faulty parts that caused the missfires. They also spent countless hours of test runs, logging etc, with Revo guys here in Greece and alone trying to identify what is wrong but nothing worked. Once they changed the springs no missfires whatsoever. I am just stating the facts I am not promoting anything or anyone.

mine is an 08 car and already has had a replacement cylinder head last january so i suppose would never tell what year or parts are fitted to my car?

i used the engine missfire log in advanced measuring blocks not sure what channel it is , it was on a cool engine , had been for a short drive 10 mins before logging.
