All this negativity regarding material.

Point 1:
Leather yes cold in winter, hot in summer, easy to clean but expensive.

Point 2:
Alcantra warm, soft, a git to keep clean and little bit expensive.

Point 3:
Normal cloth warm, cheaper, stain easily and a bit boring.

Is it not all about "personal choice". I've had all three types and all have good/bad points and I've not preferred one to the other.

But leather comes with winterpackage so heated seats means only a cold butt for 2 mins.
Winterpackage means also headlights washers and a lot bigger washerfluid tank.

I have the winter pack on my 280 which is due to arrive mid Jan. But I don't really like the idea of the headlight washers, do you not just end up with two dirty streaks and water marks all down your front bumper when you use them ?

I can also safely say i've never had any point during my (admittedly only 3 years) driving experience where my headlights got anywhere even approaching dirty enough that headlight washers would have been useful to improve visibility.

I just wanted the heated seats :)

regarding Seat leather, does anyone else thing the steering wheel leather is very hard? It's almost like plastic - nothing like that in my golf.

Seat's leather does seem hard. I've got leather in my wife's saab and my daughters Mk5 golf GT, and both are a lot softer than my Leon, as was the E-class i PXd for it.
nowhere near as soft and luxurious as even the Golf, let alone the merc!

Previous cars were a mk5 golf GT and two mk 6 golf gt's. I cannot see much difference between the steering wheel leather on them and my Leon 1.8 fr. But maybe there is slight difference in quality. But then that is why the golf mk7 GT with the same spec as my Leon is about 6 grand more!!!

But then the Vienna leather seats are £1700 and the Nappa leather seats are £2400 on the new Golf.

SEATs are £700 including the winter kit [B)]. So to be fair, lower quality should be expected.

I also have the heated Alcantara front seats (which also include heated backrests) - They're great in Winter, with really fast warm-up!

Yup, my wife often puts the heated seat on just to sooth her back. She love's em :funk:
