Are Mk2 2.0 cars prone to aquaplaning?

Answering my own question, I can't think why really, it's quite a heavy lump up front.....

Mine is, I'm putting it down to the Michelin Pilot Sport tyres (loads of tread) "Exceptionally safe even in the wet" :-o
 
there used to be a lad on here, mike smith, 180016v, with the f2 wing, he couldnt get past 120mph :D
 
I'd laugh, if i didn't think there was a possibility it was true........

scary at 90+ i definately feel it - considered cutting the middle out of mine and making a adjustable aluminium one like the dragsters

as for the water those tyres have excellent water displacement properties for wet weather but 5" of water when trying to splash the school kids is a while different league

You'll aqua plane in any light car that is going at speed and has tyres wider then 6". I've surfed both the Ibizas as well as the polo

honestly not tried mine but with the current diesel gearbox/diff it would probably get higher but be cruising on tickover and take fooooooorever
