I know its had a new ECU, dont know why or if its 'fettled' but if the road surface is even remotely damp , I can get wheelspin even through to between third and fourth is this Common, or am I just being a tad heavy with the loud pedal....???

I want your ECU :D. I get a bit of spin when I put it into 2nd (even in the dry) but never between 3rd and 4th!!!!and mine's a 16v.

Please try and find out more about you ECU so I can get me one of those ;) But usually what I have heard is they cost like £300+ and you only get about 10bhp extra.

I used to have a 2.0 8v there is no way it should be able to spin in 3rd and 4th!

Either your motor has seriously been breathed on, your tyres are covered in oil or could it be clutch slip?

Wheel spin in the wet is highly unlikely in 3rd (if not impossible), you can deffo get it in 2nd though.

Check alignment aswell, if the contact patch is off to one side, obviously more chance of spinning. It's usually the passenger side front responsible for spinning the most, check for uneven wear starting?.

Wheel spin was deffo more likely with rubbish 185 tyres I started with. Now I've got F1's in 195 format, much more grip and less spinning.

then Im chuffed. my car can do the impossible... lol.. only thing i can put it down to is poss oil/diesel on road , surface damp due to rain and car just 'scrabbling' for grip.. but it *would* be nice to know what the ECU was changed for and for 'what' .. looks likeI need to get it R/R'd....

Mine will manage to spin to bout 2500 on second if im lucky... :D
Got Federal 959's 205x40xR17
was on yoko 539's and the federals grip way more in the wet!

mine wheel span in 3rd on 14's in the damp, now its got 16's on it spins in 2nd but not 3rd, id put it down to the torque but then again i am heavy with the rite foot :)

New tyres can be notouriosly slippy when brand new, I bet in a week they'll start gripping (and lets hope we don't have a snowstorm in a week!)

think its time to add why i think mine wheel spins in slighty damp conditions without much encouragement..

a fair lot of torque going through a non LSD, as soon as a wheel even slips a nats **** most the power will be sent that way, which is not good if you want a quick get away, damn 16v's and there LSD's
