Found some lovely little 'flanged dome head' socket caps to secure the access panels

M4, small ones, stainless. Was going to use blue anodized sports bike fairing screws but they are well expensive!!!

Painting and graphics done (Cheers Kev). Current round of mods nearly done now so can get testing for next year. Last thing is a fuel sender but I think I have identified what I need now.

Lovely tethers made for the R-clips courtesy of mate, ace engineer Rev. Dave McD'ster (so the clips dont get lost).

1.2mm stainless wire, with a 1.5mm duraluminum tab, for 4mm screws, and aluminum ferrules! (aka. super lightweight sprint/hillclimb spec)

As opposed to the initial rally-spec cable as seen in Design No.1, which might have been just a bit too robust for the application

Have subsequently found some more secure R-clip designs also, both on order out of curiosity

Double-R clip (with second turn of wire in spring section to make clamping force better)

Self-locking R-clips (as used on remote-control cars)

Always on the lookout to chop some weight out of the car, finally decided that the door innards can go - so set about the passenger side this weekend with a very nice thin (1mm) angle grinder cutting disk. Had previously had a few bits of tin out from the door frame, and a good chunk of the side-intrusion bars left long ago. But the window mech just wasnt being used, and so the whole lot could be tidied up. With the door inners removed, the final bits of side intrusion bar could be chopped also. Was going to add a kevlar sheet to finish, but I reckon it can stay as it is until a passenger seat comes back.

Well one thing led to another and ended up shedding 7.3kg!

1.45kg wing mirror to be replaced with a pair of these (just moulded black ABS plastic) which will be filled smooth with an ali insert

Already got a lexan window in there so just need a couple small pieces of small U-section ali and a couple bolts to secure in the closed position.

I dont know of another RHD carbon dash so thats quite a catch. That'll do for the dash-lightening / electronics overhaul project then

Mirror 'blanks' fitted - ok for this purpose but certainly wouldnt want to fasten a wing mirror to them - very flimsey plastic.

Cracking test session Monday, in the pissing rain, but that gave the opportunity to try full wet settings out. Went out to begin with wet tyres but dry suspension settings, and then later with the wet settings, dampers and arb adjusted. Awesome. Night and day different, more grip under power exciting corners, and better on brakes. Lots of data logging done which is still being processed, along with some video. New front spoiler stayed off the ground also, but may still touch i guess in the dry with faster speeds and harder braking. 10L fuel tank lasted for about 10 mins of running which is ok for the cars use.

A successful day out. Cheers to G for help.

Fitted new rear quarter plastic windows as previous were well past their best. Grey tinted with black edging. Look very stock in appearance actually. 4mm thick. Ordered through Plastics for Performance, took 4 weeks to arrive and them were wrong shape. Luckily too large. Spend all day yesterday modifying them to fit. Look nice now but FFS, they should fit.......

Weight compared to glass, 1.6kg vs 3.2kg, per window.

Cheers

Rob
