Expensive at that price though considering you can buy a used one and spend several £k and have a better car overall.

I wouldn't pay £25k for a Hot Hatch.....

i think theyre saying the scirocco will be approx 25k, the cupra r (if the rumours turn out to be true) should come in well under that.

Yeh I would think it'd be the VW they mean for that price, meaning the SEAT will be less.

As for getting a standard Cupra and upgrading it, I reckon that starting with the 'R' would mean a hell of an improvement just like there is with the Mk1 cars - the R is considerably different internally.

The engine in the current Cupra is quite different internally to that found in the FR and GTI, so I'm not sure if there'll actually be that much of a difference between the R and the Cupra engine wise, probably a more aggressive map. Especially with a fair few of the current Cupras putting out around 260 as standard.

The upgrades to the suspension may be useful, but I hardly think the current braking setup needs much improvement except for track work.

We need more details before we can pass judgement though

Guessing is fun though.

I reckon better brakes,bigger turbo/injectors etc.

Maybe adjustable stiffness suspension?

It wont happen on the mk2 though. VW will just stick in a audi TT-S spec engine into the cupra r which is fundamentlly the same engine as found in the cupra, so both will stage 2 the same output.
