Will see how things pan out at the weekend. I am out tomorrow, friday and sat night, so may have bigger things to worry about like sore heads . Also, I see a thaw is coming!

had the car out today and it performed very well in the snow, much better than the mates 30k A4 that just slid and spun all over the place. he took 3 attempts to drive a 30degree gradiant which the leon coped with 1st time with no wheel spin at all.

My thought.... Mk2 Leon for me was brilliant in the snow first time round with 3 year old pirelli p zero rosso's. Only bad point was loosing a jacking cover.

This time round I have fitted some winter tyres and some mudflaps to the front aero skirts and happy days! Even better!

- side note the mk5 Ibiza Cupra dsg is brilliant so far, taking off in 2nd on drive! Love it!

Did 50 miles tonight in snow ice drifts up hills etc etc. No probs now with the winter tyres :D. What a difference.

Got stuck half way up the short icy hill to my workplace this morning so I stopped the car, handbrake on, ESP off and tried again! Slipped my way up with no real dramas. Then our caretaker turns up and grits the hill....

Managed two nice handbrake turns in the empty car park before anyone else turned up! :D

Quick question , want to know if this is common ?
drove in the snow the weekend , pulling away slowly (under 2 mph) the car struggled for grip (ice) but the front of the car always slides to the left ? as soon as traction is lost doesnt just grip and bite , both new tyres on the front and had my wheels aligned.
Does any one else just slide to the left or does your car just grip and keep striaght , if so is that on winter tyres or summer?

Cheers

Rob.

You'll find most roads camber to the left, so the car automatically follows the curve of the road

The Leon is bad - I'm on summer tyres (conti sport 3's) and traction is virtually non existent, I have needed to be pushed up a hill once but I was not the only car to struggle. Other than that I have been able get about (slowly admittedly!). Driving to suit the conditions, very gentle use of thottle, brakes, steering etc. will see you by.
Don't worry about cars behind you goading you to speed up.

nothing to do with the camber , it happens on straight roads with no camber , the rods i drove on in the snow were outside lanes of dual cariageways because the inside lanes were blocked , its happened a few times in the wet but all the time in the snow

I haven't had any trouble moving off with winter tyres, but on sheer ice I would expect the car to behave how you describe I guess. Is that using winters Rob?
summer tyres but had the same experience when its wet , just notice it all the time in the wet

Exactly. The camber is for the rain to run to the sides and go down the drains.

wow really?
blimey wondered why the drains were always on the left :cartman:
