Nah can't afford to lower it and can't justify it to parents, I'd like to but maybe in the future

I can help with half your problem.

A lowered car creates less drag from under the car hence better mpg. That'll take care of your folks. And a nominal fee for rent would free up other mods.
As for the cupra suspension making a 1.4 sit higher, its down to the weight of the engine+box in the 1.4 weighing less than the cupra lump.

[:@] I was driving home from canterbury yesterday when the clutch went, which wasn't fun!, it's not the cable though, ECLIPSE RECOVERY guy thinks its something to do with the hydraulics... real PITA obv as its undriveable. Get it to the mechanic tommorow hopefullly and see what he says... probably going to make my wallet feel a lot lighter though!!!

Well I wont find out till the 22nd, my mechanic is on holiday from tommorow till the 20th, then the only free space is 22nd. While it's in I'm getting him to fix the passenger side window and the wiper linkage, as well as obv the clutch... so I'm without a car for the majority of this month!!! YAY [:@]

Ah, okay. Well, if the pedal moves freely, look up under the dash, there will likely be a loose bit of metal around the clutch cable. If there is, follow this LINK, it should help your mechanic to fix it without taking the steering column out :)

I'm no mechanic but I had a look under the steering wheel today and I think I know whats up...

This bit fell out when I took the cover off:

I think it should be part of the plastic bit (red) below, which in turn should attach to (green) which is the top of the clutch pedal...

What do you more experienced car types think??

Looks about right to me.
Is there a seat version of realoem.com for bmw's? (its E30's for me, not the modern junk) It'll show where this piece lives and the part number.
I've found Seat dealerships to be the most friendly accessable in the trade so if one is close to you they could confirm and hopefully only charge a few quid for a new part.

As we said tj. Clutch pedals gone. Looks like it may have taken the cable with it too :| new cable + weld up the pedal. Job done. Check the link in my last post :)

See you at the weekend

Ahh, true. Sorry, was looking from my phone. I see it now. Unfortunately I think it may well be a new clutch cable. Not too bad though, got a new one from WJ King for £20 IIRC. And had it fitted in 30 mins :D

Yup clutch cable it was, got it back from the mechanics today :) Wiper linkage done, passenger window done and clutch done :) And I now have an empty bank account :( and it feels weird to drive but I'm sure I'll get used to that...

So...big thanks go to Nick for pointing out that the inside half of both my front tyres were completely bald! Like smooth, no tread, very illegal, bald :/ coudn't take any pics tho as my phone is broken atm...so only update really is that I've got two new front tyres...not bad deal though, got mid-range for the price of budget which is good as I'm very skint atm

Hey mate! Just saw your thread! Never knew you had this colour of car.. ^ Seems like you need to get your tracking doing too.. I need mine doing big time, and I need new track rod ends as well.. Grr, bloody seats.. I think the cupra suspension is amazing, but I just want looks now, so am getting rid of mine.. might opt for some budget coils..

Your car is getting there mate, if she was slammed to the ground, with some Cupra Starfish wheels on, it would be in a whole different league.. I'd take the plunge mate, once its done, your parents arent going to change it are they ;)
