ur all right in what you say but ive had a ride in some quik motors (450bhp RX7, 250bhp series 2 escort rsturbo, 300bhp cossie, v6 mr2) and my dads got a toyota soarer 2.5 tt that has about 280 ish bhp, dont get me wrong the seat is a cool car but the 1.4 is kind of ...well slow and it gets on my nerves (worst sense of patience ever:cry:lol) so was just looking for that bit more go but i like the idea of the diesel :) so ill HAVE to wait haha but for now ill just get myself a custom exhaust (and some hydraulic tappets ) and make ma car more show to make up for the go ;)

lol my 1.4 was fooking awesome till i blew it up!!! STRIP IT OUT lower it get a strut brace on it!.

it'll feel like a go kart!

you wont be going to fast but it sure as hell feels like it when you have a full exhaust system and nothing in the back! lol all sound and no go FTW!!

Honestly thats the best way tbh. Do the above plus get a set of rear spacers and decent brakes. Fair enough it wont be any quicker but the handling will be excellent.

To make the 1.4 alittle more responsive get a mk3 cupra cat back system and a Green Cotton air filter. They do make a difference. Maybe flush the engine through with some Forte Gas Treatment just to give it abit of a clean.

Seriously though you can still have loads of fun in a 1.4

Right some sensible answers :)

More bhp:
Cat back exhaust without making the backbox too big. (£300)
Powerboost valve (£80)
Performance panel filter (£30)

Total increase with all the above 5-20bhp

Braking
Change front set up for hub and calipers from a mk3 1.8 20vt. Buy some new discs and pads. (£150)

Handling
Front ARB (£160)
Front and Rear Strut braces (£100)
Uprated suspension (£200-£400)

If your handy with spanners you can fit them all yourself :)
All this will increase your car's resale value by about £100.

Good luck ;)

i have been driving a 1.4 ibiza for the last 4 years, its a great car but i resigned myself to the fact getting more power just is not worth the money you put in

i slapped some mk3 cupra alloys on and it looks great, but thats all i have done as i am going to get the mk5 cupra when its out

Does anyone have any more information on the power boost valve?? Ive heard of them but dont know that much about them.

Regarding the exhaust, you could always just get a mk3 Cupra cat back system and put that on. I put one on my 1.4 and it did make more of a difference, much more responsive etc.

If you are looking at styling mods you could get a gti front splitter and carbon effect decals for the back. You could also get a set of pressed number plates.

has anyone got a GTI front splitter for sale???? and how much are they????
