Right so ordered lots of suspension related parts:

New anti-roll bar bushes
New Ball joints
New top mounts
New track rod ends
New drop links
New wishbones
New *enter suspension related part here*

Should do the trick right?

Am I forgetting something? ah yes the suspension itself, and of course sourced a set of coilovers, now let me think JOMS? TA-TECHNIX? ROKKOR? FK's? RACELAND?

While removing and fitting the rear suspension, this happened:

Captive nut snapped it's weld and just started to wiggle and turn on the inside when trying to tighten it...

So I clamped the captive nut in place and out came the Dremel:

Anyone spot the issue yet?

Inner captive nut threads had 'scene' better days (excuse the pun... or don't!)

At this point i'm like:

After researching a fair bit, taking idea's from here and there, I decided to tackle this the best and most secure way possible, I wasn't fond of rivnuts sadly although a lot of folk were point in that direction, first things first, access and resolve



Plenty of space behind there to get a good weld in



So out came the welder, found a perfect match nut and new bolt, cut a slit out, welded the nut in place and rear suspension on

Right now that's out the way, let's tackle setting up the BC's (that deserves a whole new thread) setting them on soft far to bouncy, setting them to hard far to crashy, setting them in the middle bouncy and harsh....

On the phone to BC who kindly explained to me how their coil-overs differ from 'others' in terms of adjustment, something about spring pre-load and the whole shock/strut body itself that needs to be 'adjusted' to adjust the ride height and handling characteristics... this is where YouTube and Google became my friend for a few hours during the late nights in bed (I wasn't sleeping with them btw, well the netbook maybe) as the car still doesn't drive the way i'd like it to drive....

Decided to have a crack at the PCV removal, there is a LOT of crap on the BBU/BJX engine's compared to the many AUQ/AUM/AGU/BAM/AMK (ok that's enough) that i've worked on many times in the past, so dipped back in to my wallet ....

Ordered what I needed to remove ticking boost leak time bomb that V.A.G deem necessary for 'emissions':





Having done this a few times I had a fair bit of piping lying around off the shelf

Off came everything and I mean everything



A boost leak waiting to happen. Ok so I left the AC in, shoot me! It's my daily so meh

Not that anyone cares it's Forge, should have just bought a £9.99 CM one but....

Not the easiest of 1.8T bays I've worked with, very tight squeeze, looks like everything V.A.G had left on the shelf crammed in to a badgers butt hole.



Some blingy yet effective braided hose (19mm for those wanting to know). While I had the engine bay looking like a failed suicide bombers vest I decided to do the injector / fuel rail wire tuck:



The 'correct' way, you have to tear some of the electric tape back to give some more slack from the loom and then re-tape it using good quality electric tape:



Much better:



It's getting there for sure, the inlet manifold has more ports than expected (BBU again!):



Hence the brake booster hose evidently ruining the over all effect, but i'm devising a cunning plan to make it 'neater'

Right cleaned up the brake booster hose and the hoses venting to atmosphere, replacing the jubilee clips with genuine mikalor t bolt stainless steel clamps:




Oh and I see you noticed the mangled air filter, wana take a closer look at it?:





If my car was alive and could talk, it would be re-enacting this scene:

Luckily it's in my hands and i'm now capable of changing diapers full of poop which exceed level 9000 (basically I have 3 children under the age of 4)

Update:

The rocker cover is back from the powder coaters:

? or not.....

Here's the thing, it's all good and well having your rocker cover or parts which actually attach to the breathing side of the engine powder coated but here's where the problem lies, now it's actually quiet a serious problem confirmed by many well known established tuners, the process involved with powder coating involves well sand blasting which is horrible stuff that can cause sever engine damage if not cleaned correctly prior to fitting, chippings of pain and sand essentially get in to the engine, reside in the lower part, the sand and paint flakes acts like sanding paper on your bottom end.... bang! get it, so let's flip the rocker cover over and inspect it shall we:

In between the crevasses of the coil packs, and finally the whole under side where fusion between the rocker cover and gasket is disrupted due to the paint:



Top Tip:

A lot of people would just fit this straight on, however if you've read my comments above, I suggest your thoroughly scrape all the sand out, sand down the paint on the underside of the rocker cover, wash and rinse it dry before fitting the freshly powder coated cover, it may save you a lot of money down the road and prevent disaster. I shall be doing this when I get some time, as 'bling' isn't on my priority list.

After an eventful day at the R-TECH charity RR event today, and some inspiration I thought I dedicate a few more hours to her in the evening. Decided to go ahead and clean the muck from the rocker cover and fit it:

Bought a new large Pipercross open cone / foam induction filter which had been sitting on my shelf for 2 weeks now on:

Am I right in thinking the EML will come on with the SAI removed and there's no way of removing the fault code for it?
