But knackered droplinks arent an MOT failure so I reckon they are trying it on!

That is the stupidity of the new regs.

The drop links could be knackerd but have good dust covers and pass

there is no gaiter on the arb.. only bushes in the ends to wishbones and subframe.

Yes, that what I said earlier, but it sounds like maybe the MOT place is including the droplinks as being part of the ARB - now that is naughty and maybe a good reason to only get MOTs at a main dealer that handles "your" marque of car - ie they could, by default, understand which part had failed. Either way, I'd expect an MOT tester to clearly specify what was actually failing - and then quote the clause that encompasses that area parts. Is this another scheme to be vague and force us to get the MOT station that fails a car to fix it - it is not meant to be like that!

Yup, my car has just gone straight through its MOT. The garage I used last year gave me 6 advisories on front suspension and quoted 500 quid to fix them. Didnt even get mentioned this year. The first garage was so vague it was unreal, they even failed mods that had been on the car for 4 years with no problems. Sounds like a grumpy old man cliche but it does seem like another way to screw money out of drivers. Just glad I FINALLY managed to find a garage that seems half sensible.
