a mates car is past its mot, by 3 months, he thought it was due january but that was his old car?? numpty.

im not sure on the legals but obviously its illegal to drive but hes booked it in for wed and hes panicking that the mot place will reject it as its well overdue.

whats the stance on this guys?

if you think about it, a car that is declared off the road does not have to have a valid MOT certificate so they don't care whether it already has one or not.

You should point out to him to check more carefully in future though! ;)

so if he just takes it they wont ask any questions?

cant believe he did that like, went to get his tax today also and then realised when he looked at his mot cert?

nightmare so hell have no tax then either!!

i guess that depends on when he bought his tax.

you tax a car for the following year based on the fact that it has a genuine current MOT certificate, if something goes wrong with the car that would cause it to fail an MOT a month later the tax is still valid. chances are he hasnt remembered to tax it either though.

and no, i wouldnt anticipate that they will say a thing.

should he have any problems if he gets mot wed done and the taxs it strait after?

I know someone who did not tax their vehicle (forgot) for 2 months past the due time and did not have their MOT done either (also forgot). Nothing happened.

The risk actually is if you have an accident and no tax no MOT then you will be liable and have no insurance payout etc and will be in trouble.

If you have not been caught out and have your MOT done and tax your car you will be ok.
