About time for an update.....

Been a busy few months with the arrival of our little girl so sadly the LCR took a back seat a bit but I've not fallen off the wagon and got chance to spend the Saturday sorting out some the the "niggles" which I had kept getting put off previously.

Intercooler

Had my Forge FMIC fitted for almost a year now and was never totally happy with the fittment of the hoses as they seemed to twist slightly which eneded with one big twist when fitted to the charge pipe and caused the hose to rub against one of the coolant hoses...and well you can work out the rest!

Whilst i had the bumber off thought it would be rude not to give the FMIC a good clean and slap some autosol on and even went as far as blasting the insides with the jet wash to remove the oil residue inside.

The only down side with trimming the pipes to fit snug was that it ment I lost the nice gap i had for my 4 inch CAF but thats a job for another day.... ;)

N249

Whilst i had previously relocated this (pipes and all) to the passenger wing a boost fault brought it back out of hibernation to eliminate the poissiblity that this was the issue and it never made it back.

This time round thought I got shot of all of the pipework totaly and made up a pair of wires using spade crimps to connect to the terminals rather the utilising the exisiting plug.
Found a nice new cubby hole just below the passenger headlight and looks so much neater IMO.

I also seemed to be suffering intermittent boosting problem where the car seem to be getting pushed into limp mode, although the boost gauge showed it was still boosting normally......, so i decided to remove the ECS N75 I had fitted and go back to the standard DV location rather than using the relocation kit.
As of now I have done 100+ miles and all is holding up just fine.....fingers crossed!

Well been a while since any updates and to be honest it is because I have lost interest in my LCR....
Truth be told im fed up with all the niggles I've had/still have and get frustrated every time i drive it as never feel happy with how it is performing so before I either blow it up or spend silly amounts of money on it I have offically passed it over to the wife. I honestly wouldnt be bothered if I never drove it again its that bad!

Turning my attentions back to my Mk3 Golf now so lets see what fun I can have with this.......hmmmmm R32 conversion would be nice.... :)

Cheers

It's Back! (although never actually left.)

Almost 2 years ago I had totally given up on my LCR and was caught by the lure of my MK3 Aniversary Golf which with its amazingly raw and back to basic ride had one me over.

The LCR was passed over to my wife for her to use as her daily whilst we looked for something to replace but for some reason, call it fate if you will, that just never happened so it just stayed there in background getting a beating from the wife and a bounce off every curb that ever exisited.

So why have I suddenly rediscovered the love for my LCR.....well actually its down to my little 2yr old girl. Sounds very cliched I know but even at 2 she loves her cars and likes nowt more than being out helping daddy cleaning/working or whatever on the car. I kid you not I even found her come out with a crawling mat and lie it down next to me and crawl under the car to watch what I was doing the other week.....thats a petrol head in the making for you.

Anyway enough waffle and on to more exciting things like progress on the car.

Wheels
Whilst the LCR had been used by the wife she had taken to parking it by bouncing off things and as you can imagine this left the wheels looking far from there glamous past and that coupled with winter and salt attacking the lacquer had left the Dotz lookng pretty sad. Enter my new wheels a set of Cades Tyrus.

Ordered these fom PerformanceAlloys.com (amazing next day service) wrapped with a set of Hankook V12 Evo Tyres and when fitted on the eixising 15mm spacers set it off nicely although think it certainly needs to be lowered now.

Gearbox
Gearbox has had a bit of a groan on for a while to be honest and we just let it carry on in the hope that it would eventully give up the ghost but low and behold it didnt. Got the groan diagnosed as noisey diff bearings when on rundown through the gear so enquired about getting the box rebuilt but then a cheeky little one appeared on eBay so I snapped that up at a steal and am getting it fitted by TTS a week today with new clutch and cambelt done (again) for good measure.

Thats about it for a pair of weeks as after having the above bits fitted have the MOT and depending on how that goes depends how soon I can get and fit new suspension and sort a few quirks but for a 142k mile LCR shes still going strong with 294bhp at last test and still suprises quite a few jumped up Merc & BMW drivers. :):p
