My car isn't standard!!!!!

First of all i would like to thank Alex (cupratgirl) and Ian (cupra power) for their help.

Last nite Alex drove my car too see if she thought it had been remapped. She wasn't sure.

So today i met up wit Ian who wired in a boost gague and immediately it became obvious it wasn't standard. It was peaking at 14psi and holding between 10-11psi.

So a big thank you to you 2.

My question is what psi is every1 elses runnin and wot are your mod??

What psi does a Cupra R run as Ian has told the ECU doesn't look touched so this could be the mod??

Or is this indicating a remap ie revo or jabba????

Any feedback welcome and once again thank you to Ian and Alex.

PS Hopefully every1 now will believe me when i say i kill CTR's!!!!!

cupra R doesnt hit 14psi...think it peaks at 10 and backs off

revo hits ~21psi and backs off to 14

My car is standard except a custom remap for 95 ron fuel by Jabbasport and it peaks at about 16/17 psi and then settles at about 14/15psi. According to the Jabbasport dyno plot it makes 199.9bhp and 309Nm of torque.

Cheers Guys. Ian said it's probably an older remap. Not a cheap chip as the ECU looks untouched.

I'm gonna run it at the rolling road on 21st october.

Ian said with that sort of boost i should be looking at 180bhp maybe a little more which does sound about right.

I hope every1 who basically laughed at me and try saying i'm lying about what cars i've beaten are reading this!!!! LOL!!!

Depending on what my car runs on the rollers i'm definately gonna take it too jabba after i get the exhaust and induction kit that i want (not the bodged pipercross that i have on there at the moment) to get the custom remap. I prefer the sound of the psi. Revo seems to peak really high then dies!!! 200bhp will be plenty too keep a smile on my face!!!!!

boost = low down torque, counter acting it is heatsoak & 'revs'

don't get your hopes up too high for a 'custom' map - a lot more like tailored than starting afresh

Will i not see good results with the ecu i've got??? Will i be better off getting a standard ecu then haveing that custom mapped????

no he's saying dont expect a great deal from a 'custom' remap compared to anything else

particularly just cos you'll have an induction kit and an exhaust...

no, just that if your existing ECU is already mapped, you might be chucking money away on a perceived 'better' map £500 can be spent much more wisely than getting a minimal improvement

Maybe suspension would be a better buy. Thank you. If i say run 180bhp, would 200bhp make much difference as in a 20bhp increase??

Hey mate. Good to catch up with you. Does seem like a remap of some sort. Peaking at 14psi. Best to get it on a rolling road to see what its putting out. Then youll have a better idea on it all. As Mork says stick with what youve got. Look into other mods first

Yeah i think you lot are right. I nearly cried on the way to my mates... I suddenly got tremendous waste gate chatter, which me being me thought was fantastic!!!! put my foot down and no boost!!! Thats when i started crying!!! Pulled over, bonnet up and it was the pipe on the top of the dump valve blew off!!!! So any boy racers who just want noise take this hose off!!!!

Best to upgrade that Bosch one at some point with a forge or baileys equivalent. (i know its on your list) Bill sells Forge 007 at a good price
Stick a zip tie around it and it should be ok.

I've put the hose on properly now, given it sum stick and it's fine.

I was only jokin when i said about taking the pipe off!!!

I met someone at guildford who had a Golf 1.8t with waste gate chatter. He said all he done was fitted an induction kit. But was a bit shy about it. He obviously done this!!!

Yes you did mate. Yeah i thought it had but wasn't sure. Now i KNOW it's boosting upto 14psi.
