...but it only made 242 BHP :( ....and 202@ the wheels

Mods are:

Forge 007p

Samco Turbo Intake Pipe

....Operator also said that the AFR is not good 13.8:1 - Which apparently means the car could be running lean ?

After five runs the intake temperature must have been pretty high. That probably cost you a fair bit of power.

They're only pub numbers anyway. What's important is how it drives on the road. It's quick, yes?

40bhp sounds like a lot for transmission losses. I know they're just numbers, but my LC made 242bhp at the flywheel and 220bhp at the wheels. I haven't got much to compare it with but it seems reasonable enough.

AFR of 13.8:1 does seem a bit on the lean-side. I'd expect something more like 12:1 at the top-end, but I'm no expert.

Yah - That's right.

The fella said - Car like this shoule be more like 12.5:1

....however, I've also been told that measuring AFR through the exhaust tailpipe is not the most accurate way...?

It's not the most accurate, but you should still see 12.5:1 at the tailpipe. My post-remap dyno run measured AFR at the tailpipe and it was down to 12.5:1 by about 5000rpm. In fact the AFR changed in a very linear fashion from about 15:1 at 2000rpm to 12:1 at 6500rpm.

The AFR should become richer at higher revs so the extra fuel can act as a coolant for the cylinders and to prevent pre-detination.

With that in mind, yeah 13:1 was is perhaps a bit lean.

Its interesting how your AFR stays relatively level throughout the range too. I would expect to see it leaner at lower revs but to get richer as the temp and revs get up.

any vagcom logs done during all those runs to see how hot things were and what the ecu thought lambda was, as opposed pipe up its arse.

no - no VAGCOM on those runs...

But here are some results of VAGCOM results, out on a 'private' road a couple of months ago:

By default the LCR runs "lean" untill the EGT temp is 980 degrees. This can be overcome in a map and i always make sure they leave at a max of 12.8:1.0. I have had many mapped LCR's on which suffer from det as they come on boost due to the fueling maps been modded badly and the "tuner" not understanding what they are changing.
I'd go back to evo chips (think they have a dyno dynamics?) and get them to check it, i know they have just moved away from their current file supplier due to issues!

Hi,

Sorry, have you got the right Evo Chips here?

As the guys I'm talking about (Motor Sport Developments, Bradford) don't have a Dyno I think?

Thanks

Ah ok, probably different :)
