Hello all !!
welcome to my Cupra! a work in progress
I bought her about 5 months ago.. worse for wear you could say?
standard procedure, the guy tells me all is well with the car,
all he'd done was spray the wheels and the roof black and drop it 30mm
and there was some sort of unbranded cat-back system.
Low genuine 46k
Immaculate interior
Good Bodywork, good colour still.
sweet runner etc!
The truth:
Low genuine 46k
Immaculate interior
Sweet runner
Big fat lie:
Good bodywork, good colour still.
Obviously this colour was prone to a nice fade!!
But so much so, he'd pay a monkey to spray almost the whole car with;
The wrong kind of paint & NO experience
..
In a shed with an aerosol would of looked better.
ORANGE PEEL and over spray everywhere!
anyway..
of course he tells me he knew nothing about it and that it was like it when he bought it!
after travelling a few hundred miles to see it, i knocked him the money for a full respray. and i left with the car.
Although i was worried about why he'd sprayed the car, i bought it anyway..
drove it home, didn't miss a beat.
The obvious is;
its had a small prang, front right. replaced wing and bonnet.. sprayed them and then sprayed the rest to try and match.
So, what i've discovered/done since...
One night driving home, the car decided to run on 3 cyls..
thought it might be the obvious coil packs.. changed all of them anyway. no fix.
code was something like "circuit break, main harness" or something.
after speaking to a friend at Seat he told me it was common for the main wiring loom twisty connection block to let water in and corrode causing the pins to make poor or no contact..
sure enough, pulled it apart cleaned it out and put it back together.. misfire gone!
one night on the dual carriageway, engine temp crept up, warning light & beep. etc
pulled over, no water, little oil.
now this is something i check regularly so i was shocked..
then i saw the remaining water was a nice thick oily mess!
first thoughts were Head gasket.
so i was recovered and taken home
long story short, it was my oil cooler, it had broken down inside causing the oil to contaminate the water.. common apparently!
easy fix!! fitted a new oil cooler, so it was back on the road the next day, just had to keep flushing my rad lines and coolant for a while and all is clear now!
Ive had a full service and cam belt change done!
Mods I've done so far
3" downpipe
De-cat
K&N
Forge Recirc
REVO Stage 1 map
Finally got to the respray stage!..
its currently being done and should be ready by the weekend!!!
Progress pics to follow!
stripping back the horrible paint job work has revealed there is no filler or panel damages :S
only on the non genuine wing and second hand bonnet can you see the idiot has painted over rust.. most of which is now gone but will not stay away forever!
so in time i shall no doubt get replacement ones.
Im having the black roof put back to yellow and the black wheels refurbed white..
i liked the look of one ive seen with the white Seat wheels.
Im also having the black bumper strip/mouldings colour coded Yellow too!
Interior is very very clean as it was advertised which is nice
Last thing i've bought is the REVO SPS2 .. should be here tomorrow!!
i wanted it really so i could switch it back to stock for some fuel economy on runs.. watch this space! haha!
No doubt i've missed lots but i will update in time
