Can I ask why you've bought a 4bar FPR?

They need to be mapped in as you will be increasing the pressure of fuel through the fuel rail.

+1

If you're getting a stage 2 code I doubt you'll need one mate. For example, Revo don't advise you need one now. It was on their earlier maps years ago that it was advised.

Good points. Historical limitations of the FPRs with the maps. It was really cheap, so I bought it just in case. My knowledge of new gen maps are obviously not as up to speed, so your pointers are much appreciated.

Still no arrival of baby Parkin… So, with the sun out today I was able to get a few hours on the car. I started by finishing off the Inlet Manifold by fitting the new Injector seats using a 19mm Hex Key, Injectors, the engine cover mount and giving it a final mop. With it looking pretty good, I spent some time on the Fuel Injector Rail, by removing all the plastic cowling, polishing the rail and fitting the cleaned FPR. With that all done, I painted the cylinder head part of the block, cleaned underneath and gave some time to the alternator. I was going to paint it, however I tried to wire brush it and it came up really well. With new gaskets for the Phenolic Gasket, the Inlet Manifold was fitted.

I then re-routed the wiring for the Injectors. All nuts, bolts and clamps have been replaced with SS items where possible.

Here’s how I left the car as it was getting pretty chilly with the sun having gone in: Throttle Body with new Gasket fitted.

So, it’s just a case of re-fitting the other polished items, a few new bits of silicon/clamps and the Coil Pack Harness cover (once it arrives), clean out the Catch Can and replace the y-piece linking the Rocker and then giving the bay a good scrub. I want to get the Strut Brace Powder Coated/painted so I’ll remove that when I can get to the nuts on the underside of the struts. I think I’m going to spray the slam panel as well, as there are couple of marks and it lets it down. Just trying to source a bargain priced compressor so that I can get in to the world of 2K paint :D

Progress might be slow in the weeks ahead but I’m relieved that the car is more together now. Hopefully it'll run...

Even not fully pieced together, your engine bay is to die for! The inlet mani is just incredible.

Great work as always mate, really is top top notch :D

looks really nice but i think you should ditch the oil filler extension bit and just put the oil filler cap straight on

Looks brilliant!

I recommend using a synthetic sealant on those parts to keep them looking fresh.

Thanks Maz. I have bought some Megs NTX Metal Wax which seems to be reasonable. Doesn't leave any residue and doesn't dull it too much. Is there a better one that you personally like?

Wow!!!! This is going to look incredible once it's complete. I cant believe your going to put an engine cover over that rocker cover though.

Matt.

Do I have a hole in my Exhaust Manifold?

I got chance to spend another hour on the car this morning before heading off to the midwife’s for a 41 week sweep. Hopefully the baby will be with us in the days ahead, but if not we’ll be induced on 3rd April. Today I pretty much replaced the rusty bits and configured the non-return valve following the PVC removal. It’s getting there I suppose. I’m still waiting on my harness cover from David at Sere. Once I have this, I can finish off the top of the Rocker Cover and that should allow me to fit the Charge Pipe, etc.

I made a potential decision-defining discovery today, I think? This is a hole in the Exhaust Manifold right? I knew my exhaust was blowing near the Downpipe, but I thought it was the DP/Cat that was responsible...

If so, could this mean a forged engine whilst the Cylinder Head is off, along with a new mani, TB exhaust and a remap finally… Can anyone confirm whether this is an intentional hole please?

Hole is just a gap in the webbing between runners so shouldnt be leaking
Out of the manis ive removed (not many) i had one with the hole and one without
