In all honesty, I'm very new to both lcr ownership and meticulous cleaning and general detailed upkeep of any car I've owned, so I am researching as much as I can on here atm aswell as asking a couple of good friends who have been doing this sort of thing and using these products for some time now.
Hopefully it won't be too long before I can voice my own opinions and recommendations, but in the meantime I'll enjoy the good threads such as your own and hopefully continue to be inspired!!
Thanks for the sig comment!![]()

Really great thread and a beautiful car maintained to a high standard with a very good list of mods! Really impressive mate
Also like what you have done with the twin air feed, might have to steal that idea and use it myself lol
Good choice!Hi all,
It’s been a while since I last updated this thread and unfortunately, there’s not too much to report.
As planned, on 05 Nov, the car had it’s 5,000 mile oil change using the Valvoline oil that my mechanic Alf continues to rave on about. The gearbox had an oil change too. I’ve been using Activ-8, which is a mechanical lubricant, for a while and I have to say, with a top up with the fresh oil, it’s running really well; runs free and is very quiet. Activ-8 has also been used in the gearbox, which has made movements much smoother. I've also increased the throw of the Forge Short Shift from full (40% reduction) to around 30% which seems to have much improved gear changes from 1st to 2nd gear (this seems to be a common report).
The VW Polo is all dandy but I’m using the Leon much more as it’s really nice to drive at the moment. The only problems are that the Leon is filthy and that it kind of defeats the object of having the Polo as a daily….
I went to the NEC today to visit the Classic Car and MPH show. It was brilliant; lots of really well kept cars that you wouldn’t usually see on the roads. AND…. I got to see Ed China and Mike Brewer from the TV series Wheeler Dealers (sad I know) but it made my day.

The Meguiars stand was just brilliant. The everyday examples of cars were of the highest standard. They had the MK2 Golf GTI that won best Golf at this years E38 show; I hadn’t seen it in the flesh before but it was just stunning (white with chrome BBS’ with red inners). I really regret not taking any pictures.
One pic I did take which took me back a few years…..

My old DA polisher was on its way out so I bought a new one today. I still don’t feel confident with a rotary so I stuck with a DA. Meguiars had a G220 on offer for £119 but I decided to go with the Dodo Juice‘s version which cost £80; it came with a Dodo Juice plush drying towel, Dodo Juice buffing cloth and a Dodo Juice polishing applicator. I’ll continue to use the Megs polishing and finishing pads, as I like them. I also got a bottle of Megs Ultimate detailer and Quick Wax; I seem to be a sucker for Megs products at the moment.

Anyway that’s it for now. If the weather is fair in the morning, I’ll give her a wash. The V1s go on next month hopefully. Over the winter, there are plans but I’ll update once they’re done (more trial and error processes….).
As always, thanks for reading![]()

Good choice!
Let us know how you get on the with megs products. Never used these before.
Lovely car I must say - very accurate thread, like this a lot. I met Mike Brewer once he came into my Dad's Cafè and I served him - he was with Penny someone rather when they used to film 5th Gear (I think).
