Q5 along with the FL Leon has the newer CR lump which as you say revs better and is more responsive especially lower down. The FR had the older Pump Duse lump.

Explains a lot and why mine felt a bit 'primitive' after driving the Q5. Also hope the new unit is a bit quiter at low speeds. Might be more to sound deadening than engine, but I can't help but think mine sounded like a transit when I started it!

Oh and car just collected. Had to pay for two wheel refurbs which leasing company insist on £60 each hence £120. Not bad to be fair as I thought all four could have done with a refurb, plus they missed the mirror cap I cracked when putting the originals back on on Sunday!
