Aww thats cute.

You believe you can pick up a PD150 turbo unit for £150? Then hybrid it for £350? Then fit it for £150? Then just 'tweak' the map?

For a start you cant use a PD130 unit to go for the TD2 set up as they use a PD150 unit for the reason Devon already mentioned, its better, bigger and as much as the PD130 owners (and even the odd PD150 owner says) will be able to maintain better power.

To back up what sissons says, I own a PD130 its running silly power, to do this it needed silly boost, and the turbo will blow up. Ive never made any other comment about reliabilty when it coems to my current map. I took it up to RS Tuning and told them to get as much power as they could, they did. Both myself and them agree'd it probs wouldnt even last to the RR day we were orgnansing for 2-3 weeks after, but it did.. and I can start my car up even today and no white smoke out the back, HOWEVER its going to blow up. FACT.

So if you wanted to go for more power, ud have to source a PD150 (might aswell go to RS to source cheaper for you from TD) £1,000, £200 fitting £400 mapping near on.

AKA £1,600 as above.

Cheap as chips, and this months wage for me gone :D

As above, a PD150 ( in reasonable order) will set you back at least £300 unless you can find one that someone doesn't realise they have. GT1749VB is the code you need but you'll be very lucky to find one for £150.

The map is £500

TD want £450 + vat on an exchange basis and that exchange price will increase if you send them a knackered turbo to work on.

It's going to work out about £1200 for me but i've already got a PD150 to send away - just means no car whilst the work is done :)

Ive got mine near on that price without the PD150 to send away with a few useful contacts!

Mine will come to £1450ish I reckon and will have my old soon to fail PD130 turbo to dress up in the garage with the rest of the now not needed standard parts!

Well unlike everyone else .. BT is last on my list to do after everything else has been done - i want all the base bits and bobs correct well before i spend that kind of money on a map and a turbo :)

Im now interested to hear what the base bits and bobs are mate? Do I have them already? ;)

You don't care either way do you - you'll just do it in whatever order you like :)

I want all the hoses done, i want a decent clutch in ... want a ManHummel Provent installed - once that's all done i'll think about BT. Also want a decent DP and am waiting to see what Piper do in that department so i can compare it to Miltek before i buy either.

Just so you know, a PD150 Turbo unit sold on eBay the other day for £100.

It was listed as in full working order and was the correct item to fit a PD130 with minimal work.

Do you mean a Mann Hummel Provent? Think thats how its spelt... no I didnt google it honest :cartman:

I already have the clutch etc etc... personally wouldnt go BT without things like a LSD etc

Each to their own

Depends on how you drive and where you drive, if i'm going to the expense of clutch out and spending money on a new one .. an LSD would be common sense to fit at that point too :)

Assuming someone goes BT youd have to do clutch, FMIC, exhaust, air filters, suspension, brakes, lsd, intakes, spacers well before the BT to get the power and performance.

However things like uprated engine mounts, the Mann Hummel Provent product could be done after.

The only logical step I can see left for my car is the BT then start looking at other things.

That's the good thing with the 150 ... it already has an FMIC, i've already done all the other things on your list except LSD and BT :)

I still wish i'd been doing this to a 130Tdi though - i'd have been able to do all this for what i've paid for mine and spent on it :)

Tell me about, I wish id have done all this to a not brand new 130Tdi!

I could have got a earlier Sport and done everything ive done, and the BT and still have change!

benefit of hindsight!

I dont think yuo would have been that much better off anyway Pat...you add everything up considering you would have to buy a cupra r kit, get it sprayed etc...the difference for an older car has nearly gone.

but what power oes your mates 150 have??mine has more than a lot of mapped 150s
also on my mates 130 ibiza which is now 170bhp 300lb ft torque in every gear i pull half a length!!

my Ibiza 130 was rolling roaded at 186 bhp
bro's golf 150 at 191 bhp, both at the same place, so a good comparison.

Golf is definately quicker though, it delivers the power over a much wider power band than the 130, esspecially at higher speeds, this is my opinion from my own experiences of driving both cars.

how these compares to other cars i dont really know and dont really care i dont go racing, both cars were quicker after the maps by some margin.
