Cool, have you driven of been in one with the egr deleted? I'd be interested to know how rough the shutdown is without the ASV
I held onto the EGR / ASV on my PD130 Golf for about 2 years before finally ditching it due to it leaking badly. For about a year I ran it as an ASV alone with the EGR inlet blanked and the body modified to accept a 70mm silicone elbow.
TBH I'm still not totally convinced in the removal of it as you obviously lose the built in fail safe which is the ASV, not only does this smooth the engine shut down but it also helps to shut the engine down in the event of a turbo failure which could result in a catastrophic runaway.
I've got to say I much prefer the way my PD150 FR shuts down with everything stock beneath the bonnet, this said shudder can be reduced by dipping the clutch on start up and shut down and does becomes second nature.
