Cool, have you driven of been in one with the egr deleted? I'd be interested to know how rough the shutdown is without the ASV

I held onto the EGR / ASV on my PD130 Golf for about 2 years before finally ditching it due to it leaking badly. For about a year I ran it as an ASV alone with the EGR inlet blanked and the body modified to accept a 70mm silicone elbow.

TBH I'm still not totally convinced in the removal of it as you obviously lose the built in fail safe which is the ASV, not only does this smooth the engine shut down but it also helps to shut the engine down in the event of a turbo failure which could result in a catastrophic runaway.

I've got to say I much prefer the way my PD150 FR shuts down with everything stock beneath the bonnet, this said shudder can be reduced by dipping the clutch on start up and shut down and does becomes second nature.

By the way the car looks great. It's virtually identical to mine except for the Brembos and front bumper.

Likewise, somehow in the time I viewed and agreed to buy mine and when I collected it 4 days later it had acquired a smallish dent above the nearside headlight and key scratch on the wing beside it.
Annoyingly I didn't spot the damage until I got home as it was raining when I collected it.

It's just been raining so hopefully when I check the footwell it will be dry :fingerscrossed:

I always press the clutch pedal when starting to help save the flywheel. Different story with the cars I did an SMF conversion with by still pressed the pedal anyway.

I'm lucky with mine, there's not one dent or scratch on it but on the downside both front wings are bubbling which I believe may be the foam triangles that cause the same issue with the Ibiza?

The bubbling wing issue is common across a variety of VAG cars, many mk4 Golf owners complain of it as well for starters.
God knows what that foam is even supposed to achieve?

Mini update! Think I may have finally got rid of the leaks! Just trying to get the water out now need a dry ish day to pull the carpet out and dry it! A little something I found is if I parked with nose uphill (or front on axle stands) and lift the carpet up most of the water would run down to the passenger footwell so makes taking the bulk of it out easier.

I had the passenger front regulator seal, and the cabin filter seal leaking behind glovebox :) hopefully all dry still!

So after alot of time I finally figured as to why it was getting wet MR retard right here didn't fit the pollen filter cover properly.. redid it on sunday and has now been dry for two days of heavy rain so seems good, cover was damaged so tonight I fitted the new one from tps (£20 ish) and was suprised to see it's longer than original at the back! Will let everyone know my findings when it next rains (probably tomorrow being where I live) :)
