Speak to the sales/service people again mate, Im sure they'll sort it, going off what you wrote above. It may just be that the **** you spoke to first has lied, and he may have been repremanded for it too.

As soon as the engine is cranked over the oil will turn black very quick. I know its dangerous for you cat if the oil level is too high, and other issues as well. When there filling the oil at the garage they have a pump that is primed to the oil quantity (via a chart) then pumed into your car. Alot of the time they wont double check as they beleive that the correct quantity is allready measured before its pumed in. Get this checked.

Sorry to here about your troubles. Hope they will iron out and leave you loving your Leon as much as everyone else on here

Thanks for this info. I have written a email to the sales manager and asked him nicely to copy the service manager in. I've basically explained the problems (in a very nice way) and asked that both sales manager and service manager be on the premisis when I take the car back on Tuesday.

I would like to see them both for a nice calm chat about what is going on, I'm gonna find it hard to stay calm but I will cos up until these problems they have all been a pleasure to deal with. I've stated this also in the emai.

I shall know for defo about the engine oil when they tell me what type of oil they use in a service. If they use a 10w-40 PD oil for services in a 1.9TDI engine I know for a fact the engine oil is heavily used because of its viscosity.

A 10w-40 should be between 12.5cSt and 16.3cSt acourding to API classifications as stated here.

Surrey darling...
Jesus!!! I'd be theatening trading standards at this point, insisting they take the car back and finding a suitable replacement or just go somewhere else!

No idea what oil it should have but that really doesn't sound right... does the handbook not provide any info on which oil it should have?

Staying calm is really, really important - you need to ensure that you have constructive dialogue with them. Shouting makes you feel good, but makes you just look like an arse - plus it'll get their back up and make them not want to help.

You could take your car to a different garage for an independant "once over" - that might flag up a few things - or even an AA inspection. Both of these might cost you, but it'd flag up any hidden things. That'll give you something to metaphorically beat them with...

The email sounds good, but I'd print it off and send it to them recorded delivery that way you know for sure that they got it - paper trails are always important just in case you do need to involve trading standards....

Actual picture of my dipstick after stood on a level ground for well over 2 hours.

Looks like they overfilled it by 1.5 - 2.0 litres of oil. That to me sounds like a blummin lot! I couldnt get to the oil filter to see its condition because I could figure out how to take the engine cover off without getting angry.

I'm not gonna blow a fuse with the Seat garage just yet, I shall give them plenty of time to explain - and I shall be quite civil with them even though right now I'm far from happy at this situation.

I'm taking photos, getting a independent report from a engine consultant I know, I won't tell them this (or should I?) until/if they start getting arsy with me.

The Calcium levels of the used oil are low - and the Iron, Tin & Silicon levels are very high for a new oil. Quite suprised they have not rung me back today infact - but yes I shall print the email off and send it special delivery so I have proof it was signed for.

Thanks again.

Trading standards will be involved if I'm not happy with that I'm been told. Hence why I'm taking photos and getting a independant report.

I don't know where I would stand with cancelling the agreement I've signed to buy the car and I don't know how they would get my car back that I traded in against the Leon. I bet my old Focus is sat in a auction car park now.

Just got back from Seat.

I don't have a clue what the service manager just said to me......she sat there leaning over the desk with a tight shirt on kinda unbuttoned down past her

Too much of a distraction for me, god they were huge for a medium sized woman. It may of just been a ploy to soften me up, I could see her mouth moving but that was about it.

Awesome. I'm assuming she was fit? Should of negotiated some sexual-compensation, seems the only right thing to do at this point.

So..........turns out i'm a happy Seat user once again.

Picked the car up tonight:-

  • Full Service done
  • Brakes flushed and refilled
  • Ordered me a new light cluster
  • Ordered me a new traction control module
  • Ordered me a new windscreen

All getting fitted this coming Thursday, they are even picking my car up from work and dropping it back off.

I don't think they would had done a complete service for it if it had just been done, but they were sticking to their word and saying it had been serviced. Man I can feel a big difference now....

Much much more power, alot less smoke from exhaust when I boot it, idles alot smoother now.

Coooooooooooooooool :funk:

Gonna write them a nice letter now thanking them! It is true when people say stay calm, be polite etc. They have done all the above work without me even hinting I wanted it doing.
