That fault looks like a checksum problem maybe your tool is recalculating it wrong? Worth asking if the file has correct checksums before flashing and then saying no to the tool recalcing it

Hey peeps, egr is to blame on the erratic graph, he's also saying that maybe the turbo vein could be sticking slightly. I asked for a easy on the clutch map basically and that's what I've got :) pulls really well, mpg is better from the off, yesterday was when I done the final map and I'm so pleased was 42.1 mpg now already going up 47.6, will be doing a rr to see the figures soon. The flashing glow plug light was an on going problem, but again i made him aware of this and now my vcds lite can't find any codes, completely clear :)

Egr is a pain in the arse. Glad your happy, if you have a log of block 020 using a standard map and then the new map I can show you the increase in power n torque you've gained.

It'll be much like this one I did on a Avf pd130 that started getting a noisy gearbox at 260lbft lol

great Adam top man, will do tonight when home thank you. Good I hope my gearbox stays happy! So can I just blank off my egr or will I need to remove the whole thing, egr cooler and so on?

I just blanked mine at the exhaust manifold but the metal pipe can split, I have another blank to put at the top but I'm too busy to fit it yet lol

Your gearbox will be fine that was on an a4 early 6spd at 176,000 miles also known for bearing problems at high milage

Sounds like you have a fast economical diesel then. Great effort.

Regarding the EGR all you need to do is get a blanking plate, remove the two bolts on the exhaust manifold side of the pipe, slide in the new plate and bolt it back up. As Adam said, if the pipe splits you will get a boost leak so a second blanking plate at the top would then be needed as well.

You could remove the whole lot, small weight saving and the smaller diameter of the EGR would be removed so you would have a potential increase in power (due to the increased flow capacity) but that is up to you.

Sorry explain to me like a baby! So I blank the egr with a plate, but if pipe splits it has a leak I understand that, but when the plate is in place where does the gases go? What happens? Cheers guys :)

So basically all the EGR does is take some of the exhaust gas and mixes it with the intake (through the pipe) to reduce emissions at the cost of power.

By inserting the blanking plate you are keeping the exhaust gas in the exhaust manifold and the clean intake air in the intake manifold.

Not at all. Many people block or remove the EGR valves as they are only there for emissions.

It will only make the car perform better (or so i am told).

It'll run better for sure but there is a few downsides to it aswell many which the end user won't notice so don't worry about it.

I won't mention too much the as it's a indepth detail and I gotta keep some secrets ;)

Haha I am guessing it is something to do with EGTs but lets not go there.

If you ebay EGR Blanking plates you will find a lot. And yes, I have done mine.

:) go on I like learning, especially if it's to do with my lovely little motor :) I wouldnt mind taking off the complete egr and cooler and by the looks of it replace it all with hose pipe. Started the ball rolling and ebayed 2x blanking plates.
