Problems

Not really had many of these during my ownership but I'm getting niggly problems and one possible big one that are dampening my mood with the leon

Things I've gotta do

Brakes (next week)
Cambelt
Door seals poss as front window steaming up while driving.

Now the problem

Code 16396 - Bank 1: Camshaft A (Intake): Advance Setpoint not Reached (Over-Retarded

Boom and there is it!

Pickup pipe is being fitted next week to try cure this if it doesn't it will be going for a oil pump pressure test

Failing that its vvt at a lot of money so need to decide whether to go that bit extra and rod my spare engine, or take vvt out of spare and fit to mine, buy new from dealer or call it a day?!

Was looking forward to stage 2 very soon and now this could poss put me back a while.

I think of it was just the one car playing up I wouldn't be so bad but after spending £££s on the other and other **** going on ATM the LCR is the straw that's broke the camels back as they say!

Lets hope pickup fixes it as I'm down on power once I get it back maybe ill be smiling and planning again!

Hello guys, SEAL I had the same problem (fault code 16396) not long after I purchased my LCR225.

Local mechanic suggested cleaning or replaceing pick up pipe,

So after a service that's what I done ,code was cleared although it then re appeared after a short run.

At this point local mechanic was thinking it was vvt unit as he had seen this before on a audi tt mk1.

Before I forked out on that I took it to a friends garage who power-probed oil pressure sensor a few times to make shure it was working properly.

code cleared and hasn't returned since that was almost a year ago now .

bit lucky maybe but might be worth a try.

It was already like that richy I brought it off someone so don't know if he did but doesn't look like it.

It's have the front bumper done and the sills as bits have chipped so hopefully be back good as new ready for some maintenance

Next on the list service with pickup pipe, rocker gasket and cam gasket (timmmmmmmmm!!!!!) rear brakes then fronts, Tim's poly wishbones then arbs and map! Long list but I aim to get stage 2 before summer ends!

So this list changed abit as the use of the car dropped massively as the wife was using it alot less and not taking it into car parks. So it had a vvt gasket, rocker gasket and a service but didn't have time for the pickup pipe as time was short at the time.

Due to the car not having car parks to worry about I ordered ap coilovers black series bushes as Tim had sold his wishbones and mounts, bearings, ball joints and drop links. Brakes took abit longer than expected so they are being fitted next week. Also when fitting the gaskets had a peek at the cambelt and didn't like the look of it so that's being done before MAP. At least a rear arb is going on before map as the back end doesn't half move about at 120

Map was going to be September but all now depends on the latest problem which could be pickup pipe or oil pump or vvt! If its vvt then its a rethink on what to do next as its quite expensive £££s

But as I'm an impatient MOFO watch this space!

Pickup pipe replacement

So pickup was replaced although I haven't had the error code since I found it

Not a bad job to do with help from tim as usual! Although I did drop a bolt in the bell housing after the sump was going back on and then proceeded to get my finger stuck getting it out lol!

Here's a few pictures

How low can you go?? Sod that how high can you go!

Sump

As the car was a good boy it got a wash and had to clean Tim's as well as his wheels were doing my head in they were brake dust brown instead of candy red
