N249 bypass and SAI removal.

Alright guys, just wondering whats all this N249 bypass and SAI removal all about? Im currently running a standard 1.8T cupra appart from an air filter, what are theses mods used for and if i do it to mine will i notice any difference?

If you fit an aftermarket recirc valve, like Forge 007P, you can bypass the N249 as this backs up the stock valve. It give the Forge valve a slight woosh when you lift off. Don't do it if you have the OEM one tho as it is known to fail!

SAI is used on cold starts to inject air behind the exhaust manifold which mixes with the fuel-rich exhaust (timing is advanced for 100 seconds on start-up) to get the cat up to temperature quicker and so reduce emissions. Removing it just makes the engine bay less cluttered.

Cheers Kriso thats cleared a lot up, I think first port of call is a dumpvalve then, cheers Damo ill have a look at that and keep it in mind for when i get round to doing it. Im assuming you both have your cars re mapped any idea of whats the best to get? I was considering Superchips because its close by?

We both are running custom stage 2 maps by P-Torque Both of us have also had they stage 1 maps and they are very good.

I would stick with the big boys that sponsor this site. The likes of P-Torque, REVO, Custom Code, Jabba, AMD etc.

Superchips? there main hq place is in Warrington about 15mins from my house. I don't think they do it in stages though its just the full whack.

superchips.co.uk have a look they say they can increase BHP by 38, dunno if thats the same by the other companies.

I'm not sure if Superchips actualy do remaps or if its a actual 'chip'. If its just a chip I would stay clear from them.

P-Torque are not too far from you in Wolverhampton. You also have Awsome GTI in Manchester who do APR maps.

Personaly I would use one of the VAG specialists I mentioned earlyer mate.

I drove from Newcastle to Wolverhampton to get mine done.
