Navi on the dashboard

Hello wonderful people!
So... in the Classic and the Sport dashboard layout, I would select the center view (where an image of the Leon is normally shown) for Navi maps and directions. Today, my eTSi 150HP started doing a weird thing: it wouldn't show the Map. It would show a one-line banner with the directions on the top of the area, and the rest of the central view area is just blank! I rebooted the infotainment, turned the car on-off-back on and still no joy.
Any suggestions ?
FYI, I am at the latest firmware, version 1989 if I recall correctly.

Map images are transferred from infotainment unit to instrument cluster via a separate connection. It is a fiber optic cable in some versions and an Ethernet cable in others. Maybe that connection is failing somehow, like a broken cable or a loose connection. In that case, I would expect some faults were recorded in at least one of the related control units. If you have access to a diagnostics tool, you might want to check that first.
