Im tuning my TDI Cupra, after the first chip tuning there is so much spin in first and second gears (becouse of the large torque i think), had anyone tried a LSD on his Cupra here (or on a equal strong fw car). Is LSD a cure for this situation, or can be.. Thank you.
PS: I live in Turkey, i got a price from a dealer of 1200 GBP for a rally version LSD, worth it ?

I've got a LSD equipped pd130 box waiting to go on to my car. Just need to sort some other bits out to be done at the same time - just bushes and the like - minor stuff. Would be nice to get a single mass flywheel but struggling to find a SMF which will work with my ex-JBS 400 lb/ft kevlar clutch. It seems there isn't one from all my hunting around (even going direct to the clutch maker)

PD260 ?? Nicee :) and how ? what was your modifications can you tell alittle bit ? Thank you, and very nice car u have..

If you do a search for Quaife & Peloquin ATB differentials, that should give you all the info you need.

The last time I looked at them they're about £700. Here's Quaife's website:

In my opinion there's little point getting one for road use, once you've factored in the labour charges, unless you've got silly power. On the other hand, whatever power you have, you would see the benefits. Bear in mind that while it may help with straight line traction, they are mainly made to get you round corners quicker...

Cant fault my Quaiffe, its an ATB diff, (automatic torque biased) ask anyone that has been in it on a round about, the grip is shocking... straight line acceleration has been helped, but not as much as cornering ability.

The main thing though is to understand... the diff WILL GRAB THE WHEEL FROM YOU.. you have always keep your hands on the wheel, as any sort of pot hole, tarmac change in grip and the diff will shove all the power to that wheel, causing the car to swerve... so word of warning, it takes a little to get used to, but once you do, your wonder why all car havent got one fitted...

Having been in this i can only agree, on roundabouts the thing is an animal - it literally tears around them and appears to have levels of grip that far outweigh your expectations at a given speed!

Second question then for the experienced drivers here, is there any harm tı the ESP system of the car, or should i ask will LSD limit the ESP system, or does it nothing to do with it ?

Nothing, they work as two seperate controls.

If i really give it beans out of a corner the ATB pulls the power to the wheel with the most grip, but theres a limit to a tyres ability to hold that grip to put the power down, the moment that the tyre stops gripping and starts spinning up the ESP cuts in and stops that.. although its not as clean cut as that, its work along the lines of that..

The basic was, before the ATB diff, the ESP and TCS lights used to bling every odd sec on corners with a little bit of speed, since the ATB diff, i hardly get either lights, the main time i see the ESP light come on is on a damp morning and i give it to much power on a roundabout, and the diff puts to power to the best grip but still spins up, hence esp cuts in..

I rarely turn the esp off, as its a safe guard if the ATB doesnt do what its predicted. I have turned it off on the occasion, but found when throwing the car into roundabouts without ESP, the car is abit aggressive on the tyres and as i dont intend replacing low profile 19" every odd month, i tend not to do that alot! lol

Thank you for the quick response, i love SeatCupra.net, i've learned so many things here, and im a proud owner of the best color (red:D) Ibiza TDI Cupra :)
