Hi i have a ibiza cupra and twice the car has just cut out completely on me.when i try to start it again it just keeps turning over,no engine man lights come on.when i leave it 15 0r so mins it starts up again and everything sweet???.the only thing i think might have to do with it is were the brain is water is getting in and once i had all sorts of lights flashing, but i dried it out and was ok after that.is there anyway of covering the brain so water doesnt get in seems a really bad place for it to be..any help would be great as near went into another car as power steering and all cut out...thanks bill

My ecu had let water in, then it froze which messed it up! Had to get the ecu repaired (expensive), so I've put a plastic cover over it to divert the water from running directly onto the box and instead drips off underneath. Theres obviously a design fault, because there is no way that simply washing your windscreen should result in water dripping directly onto the ECU!

so where exactly is the ecu on a leon cupra tdi 04 ? . I've been trawling through threads here trying to find answers to my car's bizarre eletrics behaviour . Windows wind themselves down spontaneously , indicators flash , central locking can't make up it's mind . All apparently the result of passenger and rear footwell getting a right old soaking this winter . Mate in the local garage thinks the water is buggering up the ecu somewher in the floor . So where do I start digging boys ?
