Yeah this is it...get 5mm of travel an stops dead (hence the bolted query).

Will have a play with coat hanger once home, and see if that does the trick...otherwise it's a skil-saw to the dash ;)

Thanks Allot to All!!!!

I finally had a go and it was easy as pie... Well getting it out that is...

Putting my new head unit was a nightmare as so little room and some many inputs on the new head unit.... But got there in the end... Thanks again

Oh and I used the knife that comes inside a pair of nail cutters.. Worked a treat.

Amp cable to the back isn't fun...
Clicky

Oh joy... I was thinking the next one was going to be tricky :-o

I 2 am looking to install a Vibe active sub in the boot but could not for the life of me see how the hell I was going to find a way for the amp cable to the battery.

Looks like fun but think im going to get my mates help on this one.... see how it goes Cheers for the help

Altho it's a while ago, i'll let you into a secret...when the previous owner had a BT Handfree fitted whoever did the install GOOSED the stereo.

It ended up that I had to literally RIP the stereo out Theft style.
Ended up with the plasitc front of the stereo in my hands, and then could see the problem.

Some manipulation with a screwdriver, and hey presto out it came!

I did most of the HU fitting over the weekend. I'm still down an alpine cage and trim ring, so will have to do it again. JESUS what a pain in the arse it is to route the cables. Routing the cables to the boot isn't such a problem once you work out what you're supposed to be pulling out/apart.

However, those wiring kits from Car audio direct are ****. The fuse is located too far from the end of the cable, and at 5 metres (for me anyway) it wasn't long enough to reach the boot , so relocation of the fuse box was in order! Grrr.

My old Aura unit is useless now anyway, as I don't have the code for it. I'll probably leave the alpine in the car anyway when it comes to sale time, so I'm not that bothered.

Oh, to top it off, all the pissing around seems to have killed my battery :)

For anyone who's never installed a system in a leon before, don't bother and pay someone else to do it, I think is what i've learn :D

Ha was starting to think that my self? Get a Pro to do it :p

Hi you will need one of these for your headunit when you get it out!:

Alright mate, its been a wile since i used this thread but if i remember correctly after checking your link, it was some thing that boosted the Radio signal???

Am i right?

If so can you post the link again as this link is old and no longer works.
As my head unit does not pick up radio signal well.

Cheers:clap:

How much room is there underneath the HU? I've got a kenwood I need to put into my car soon, but its got bluetooth as well so I've got a little box that I need to install somewhere, is there room under the HU? thanks

Yeah there's quite a bit of room underneath the HU, I had no probs feeding my rats nest of wires, aerial amp, etc when i whacked in my Alpine HU. Even found room for the control module for the steering column remote, not that I'm using it yet as i need to find somewhere to mount the stalk to the column shroud.

You just have to be a bit gentle feeding it all in as mine didn't want to go where i wanted it to...

I ended up using an old credit card cut up to get the old unit out, took long enough though!!

The amp cable was a ******* to do, all in all it took 5 of us about 4 hours to do it all (3 doing the amp cable and 2 doing the head unit and ipod connector) was awful, I kept looking at the engine bay (as I was tackling the head unit) now and then and there was just more and more bits on the floor and a bigger hole in the bay!

And to add insult to injury, the bloody amp was dead so I had to order a new one :censored:

here's the link to the unit i bought:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Autoleads-PC5...photoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262

works a treat.. used the amp remote switching lead from the HU as a power source as i'm not running a sub, but any ignition feed would be OK.

Cheers Bosher

Bought it off ebay from that link you posted, connected it to the 12v remote cable that is also connected to my Amp and it works a treat! :funk:

Im now picking up Radio staions from all over.

Cheers for the help M8. :D
