Need to replace Headlamps & honeycombe - How/where to buy

Hi,

Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

Due to a slight mishap yesterday I need to replace both my headlamp units. Does anyone know how easy this is (54 plate leon cupra 150 TDi)?

The clips have snapped that hold them in place. Also, the bumper is pressed in slightly just where the "S" is. I assume this should just pop out as the bumper is not bent anywhere, just minor surface scratches. Only broken bits are the clips on the headlamps, and one of the clips on the "honeycombe" section. I assume this is also easy to replace.

Also, any recommendations on where to buy both units? I'm in Leeds but willing to travel.

Thanks

The honeycombe bit it one large section bar the central bit around the "S" - so its bumper right off to replace it. This will replace the two honeycombe bits either side of the central "S" bit...

The lower honeycombe sections are difference - i think the centre one is part of the bumper and the left and right ones (fog lights) come off for towing-eye and fog bulb replacement.

Headlamps i think are quite expensive :(

For reference, the large honeycombe section (not including central "S" bit) is about £40-50.

Best place to buy all this is a SEAT dealer. Unless you're lucky enough to find secondhand bits on here or ebay - you might be lucky with the lights, but doubtful on the honeycombe bit.

Good luck :)

You can order parts online form scrapyards who will post bits out to you. Not sure on any specific sites but google it and you are bound to find one site or another. They tend to band together and you put what you want in to a search and they e-mail you a few hours/days later with who has what and how much etc

Thanks for the info. It's the bit around the "S" that's broken. I may get away with not replacing it though as only 1 clip is broken - other 5 are OK. Is this bit separate from the bumper just in case I need to change it.

Still not sure about why the bumper won't line up. The bonnet overhangs the bit around the "S" (the two vertical bits of bumper on each side of it) by about 1/2 inch. Can't see any obvious mis-shape or clip damage causing this though.

Still astounded by how nuts the ABS went on wet road markings. I might as well not have had any brakes!!! To cap it all I was going that slow that I didn't even scratch the paint on the Ford Focus bumper that I hit.

Does anyone know why I can't attach the pictures of this to make it easier to explain. The browse for attached file button says I have reached the maximum size of 1byte!

Thanks - took your advice and I've found a website (www.volkswagenspares.com) that sells new, SEAT original headlamps for 88.00 each.

I just need the answer to one question - is the inside of the headlamp black on all models, or just the Cupra? I don't want to end up with silver ones!

Thanks
