hi everyone asked this this question on the other seat forum and didnt get any feedback, i was browsing on awesomes site the other day and spotted the above as mentioned and a fan switch to suit the above, im wondering if the above items are worth fitting to my mk 3 ibiza cupra which has a remap and a hurricane filter and a bailey diverter valve? anybody fitted the above items at all? any feedback would be great and how difficult are they to fit? cheers:funk: :)

neuspeed 1.8T 180 degree thermostat

hi bill, i was under the impression the cooler you can make a turbo car run, the more efficient and reliable it will be? guess not then?

Going off what i've read around the net, they are supposed to allow the engine to run cooler. Seems the yanks are into them in a big way, putting on their Dodge Vipers, big trucks and the like. Not sure how much of a required modification it is though for the 1.8T.

Not really noticed any temperature issues on my car, even after spirited driving, its never anymore than 90° degrees.

Any sudden rise in temps on the 1.8T, usually point at a dodgy water pump.

hi and cheers zboyd, i was just wondering if they were worth fitting, my car has no tempature issues at all either, just thought they might worthwhile fitting to just generally to help and aid cooling thats all as i cannot afford the £700 price tag of the forge fmic? as the new neuspeed stat opens at 80 rather than 93 like the oem one, cheers lee:confused:

Its water temp stat... 90'C as std gauge.
I doubt the water temp difference will influence the turbo's heat generation.

I know cooler is generally better, but if it can cope with 90'c now it would seem adequate.

I used to run my jetta with a cooler stat, but that was in part cos it produced a lot more heat than its cooling system liked and would go >90'C when bashing it.

My ibiza's water temps have always been stable no matter what power I have been producing.

It might help, but I would be surprised if you noticed any physical improvement.

i think it only really helps if you put it on an engine that runs very or too hot.

renault 5 boy would put low temp fan switch and low temp thermostats on when turning the boost up. But then there 1.4 turbo engine has huge trouble with trying to keep cool.

cheers bill, if any of your high power ibizas do not need or require these parts i def dont think mine does as your pushing just a tiny bit more power than me cheers for your feedback on this bud, lee.:D

To be honest, it seems like a good idea...A lower temp should pro-long engine life ect.

I have a track prepare mini and a lower temp thermostat and fan switch really helped it to become more reliable.

I know its not a problem with seats ect...but still seems a good idea. :)
