Hey up

thought I'd warn you about my catch can hassles over the last week. Hopefully might stop someone making the same mistake.

installed catch can last week, one with 19mm inlet/outlets. I ran the car for a couple of days everything seemed alright. Came to start the car one morning and noticed car was kicking a bit of white smoke out, I put this down to cold morning etc. Started car later in the day and this time smoke was much worse..drove to my local mechanic and he saw that engine was under far to much pressure..diagnosed catch can was not letting air through. Vented to atmosphere and problem solved.

anyway took catch can apart examined it and the 19mm in/outs have an inner circumference of about 8mm..on top of that the outlet was far too restrictive. When I took it out I couldn't even blow through it. There was some yellow gunk etc in there but it was nowhere near full..less than 1% full.

Yeah I should probably have checked it out first but just got on and fitted it.

one a positive note after the Pcv and n249 delete the car feels brilliant.

hope this catch can hasn't damaged engine.

Isn't the ID of the hockey puck like 6 or 8mm? I want to get rid of my pcv but I can't decide to vent to atmosphere or fit a catch can!

Yeah puck isn't 19mm I think the issue is more that the catch can wouldn't let air through it. Could have been potentially serious..providing no damage has actually been done.

feels good vented to atmosphere.

What route did you take with the breather pipe venting to atmosphere?

Now I don't feel quite so mad spending money on a saikou michi can.

Buy cheap, buy twice!

Was always told buy cheap buy twice! Still have done it though never no when you might find a working bargain but that's the chance you take
