New clutch time:cry:

Well at 77,000 miles with standard ish power my clutch is fecked
It's a 2003 LCR and to be honest i've not been very good to the clutch so its lasted very well.
But on the up side, new clutch and steel SM fly wheel coming my way from a very helpful Mike @ JBS.
I went for the Spec stage 1 which is rated for 325 ft-lbs which is enough for my plans so far. At £720 inc VAT delivered it's not rudiculous on price, with fitting I should be below £1,000.
I spoke to Mike about the JBS05, its for sale now and by next month they should have figures with the tubular manifold fitted. He said this clutch was good enough to handle their JBS05 torque.
Was very tempted to go for Stage 2 but I'll never see 385 ft-lbs, even if I did i'd need to change internals first.
So hopefully will give you all my feelings of the new clutch soon

mine has gone too at 72000 miles with revo since 15500 miles so think mine has done really well i am going for the sachs standard LCR clutch with DMF which is suposed to be really good for the power i am putting out

Dunno what i was doing wiv mine then as it only lasted 50k but had it done last week at a local garage £330 supplied and fitted with a standard re'placement

I got quotes for the standard set up, it was almost more expensive than the uprated.
The DMFW is £400 alone. If your DMFW is okay this might not need changed but as your in there anyway might aswell get it done. The benifit of this set up (hopefully) i'll never have to worry about it again.
I have read and understand that the worse things you can do to your clutch is sit at the bight point (which I used to do), accelerate hard for high gears (which I used to do) and hard launches (which I used to do)
Anyway have learned my lesson, just have to get the wife taught now

Yup. That is really bad for it.
I used to sit in traffic on a hill at the bight point all the time, I even used to rock the car on the clutch.......not good
But new clutch new habbits

Any particular reason why you're going for a SM flywheel? You'll probably regret that choice Its dual mass for a reason (engine vibrations)

More than likely you will not need a new flywheel, dont waste your money!! They will try to sell you one, but thats the sales game £720 isn't the best price either, speak to J@mes, he recently got an uprated clutch for well under that price.

I got a 450lbft stage 3 uprated clutch for quite a bit less than that also

I still need need one. I'm hoping to pick up the kit from avs and get it fitted from a indie. Shouldn't be more than ~400 all in.

Apart from the clutch kit, what else do I need? bearing set or something? I'm not gonna go the flywheel yet as that's 300 and I'm a pikey.

Does anyone know what causes a squeaking/creaking clutch? When you press/depress the cluth pedal over the biting point it gives off the creaking sound (more pronounced when cold)

Could this be another part I should replace at the same time?

Spec stage 1 clutch £390 inc vat, SMFW £320
There were very few choices for performance clutches that mate with DMFW
I didn't want to risk using the DMFW again just incase.
I've always rather spend a bit more and do the job right the first time.
I think J@mes bought clutch from TTS, this was the price they gave me but JBS price matched it.

Just had my 1st slip tonight

@19k - 1k after remap.

I thought it was going to last much longer than this to give me time to save...

Its slipping in 4th at 2.1k RPM upto 2.6K RPM then down to 2.4K RPM when it bites.

Does it everytime I floor it in 4th, also did it in 3rd slightly.



My car feel like a 1.2 now <insert many swear words here>

i was told i could take £400 off the price of mine if the flywheel didnt need doing so £380 isnt that bad i dont think espcially for a sachs clutch
