New cupra 180,mpg, running in???

Hi,I have just recently sold my ibiza fr 130pd for a cupra 180 20vt
I know i will miss the torque and fuel economy but bloody hell this cupra is a fuel monster,50 miles or so on a tenners worth of fuel!!!!
Maybe its me with a lead foot but has enyone else got a 180 and what mpg are you getting,also this car has just 600 miles on the clock,would it get better with mileage???,And would it get any quicker while the engine loosens up??
How many miles approx would this take???

up to about 800 miles or so they are pretty tight aparently ive got an fr remapped to about 225bhp and that will do about 23 mpg around town and qcaining it but still return 40mpg on a long drive on motorways! if given stick they do drink fuel but wont if you drive normally, nice to see someone go from tdi to 20vt its normally other way lol

i usually average about 27mpg. Averaged 16mpg once i got off the motorway on a trip to west wales recently

I changed from a 130pd fr to a 180 cupra and at first i couldn't believe how thirsty it was but as Gaz says once it is run in it starts getting better.

I have done about 14000 miles and i am starting to see 250-280 miles per tank which sounds bad compared to the diesel but i was seeing 220-235 at first!
Oh and yes if you thrash it you can almost see the money you are spending on fuel falling out of your pockets!!

when i first got my cupra 180 it was on 200 miles, and it did feel very tight for the first 5k or so, its now just over 10k, averaging about 30mpg if i drive normally, if i drive like a grandad i will get about 36-37. doesnt happen very often tho!

I get about 27-28mpg out of mine just over 200 miles on a tank.
Was contemplating changing to an FR TDi. hmmmmm

we can rev it over 6k though and get 400 to a tank on a long steady jurney, well ive done it 54 mpg!

the petrol version sure does drink it, although saying that my old fiesta ST returned a whopping 220 miles to a full tank on the motorway, that car loved its fuel.

now its a different story, about 150miles to £15 and that giving it some boot too. good ol' derv

Thanks for the info guys,ill have to get used to it,still cant have it all,I miss the derv but the petrol sounds much better and revs go all the way round, A propper nutters car!!!
My licence has stayed clean for 10 years,Now how long before a speeding ticket???

my 180 cupra chipped to 220bhp is an animal at drinking fuel il fill up twice a week most weeks. its such a fun car! i cant help overtaking and and putting my foot to the floor so be prepared to dig in your pocket for dollar.

And tyres they eat sets of fronts far too fast. New shoes for mine this weekend. I do suffer from a lead right foot tho
