This was my G42 and had every option , Full Carbon kit plus I had it Femto unlocked running 450bhp so very different with power and 4wd but in terms of comfort and quality its very good apart from the Sennheiser lol , but its a fun car to drive that you can use all its power unlike the M240i View attachment 52574
Thanks for the feedback! Really appreciated. Your M240i looked awesome in Thundernight Metallic. I’ve always had a soft spot for Cupra’s since I ordered one in 2019 but ended up cancelling it. I know I’ll miss the M240i as the B58 paired with the ZF8 is the perfect combo but the Leon seems like a really good car too.

Maybe it would be better to say that the M240i is 'slightly quicker' than the Cupra Leon - saying one is slower than the other suggests that both cars are 'slow', which they both definitely are not. Does that point something of a second really matter in the real world when considering changing from one car to another?

The 4.5 VZ3 is very well appointed as standard and I think the only thing missing for me, if pushed, is a HUD - nice to have but that really doesn't matter that much personally.

Some might look down on the Cupra and it may be considered a 'lesser' car than a BMW, bit who really gives one? Remember that the 4.5 VZ3 is basically a 300BHP Golf Clubsport under its (more attractive and edgy) outer skin, so hardly an embarrassment to drive. Have a look at one of the reviews here in the Media section and you'll see how good it is.

And I say all this as a self confessed BMW and VAG fanboy of many years standing. ;)
My hesitation isn’t really about 0–60 or tenths of a second, it’s more about the overall step down you sometimes feel when moving away from a premium RWD based platform. The M240i just feels very solid, refined and “complete” as a daily, especially in terms of drivetrain smoothness, cabin quality and how planted it feels at speed.

I don’t doubt the VZ3 is a brilliant car and very great value for money after taking the early depreciation hit. I’ve read the reviews, watched all the videos and I know how capable the MQB cars are - I’m just trying to work out whether I’d miss the BMW polish day to day and rwd/xdrive balance rather than outright pace. I guess I need to arrange a test drive.

Good to hear from someone who’s experienced both brands though, that’s exactly the perspective I was after 👍

I have had a couple of minor issues with the Leon but nothing major plus I also had a few build quality issues with my G42 if I'm honest but all new cars suffer now due to being fixed together with abs plastics lol , the G42 is a better car all round as you would expect but apart from the instant acceleration in any weather without wheel hop I'd say you will not go far wrong......what colour M240i did you have? I also had the rear done on mine...

The carbon kit suits it so well, and the exhaust tips definitely finish it off nicely. Mine is Skyscraper Grey - I still have the car but I'm thinking I might need to change it soon. I haven't done any mods to it yet apart from the carbon rear spoiler, black badges and had it ceramic coated (if that counts as a mod 😂). What issues did you have with the G42? I know the common one is the condensation in the headlights, thankfully mines been trouble free so far.

Nice car and a friend of mine has a lovely M2 in that colour and here it is.......spent a fortune on it lol , my M240i had a few trim rattles needed doing but easily fixed but the worse one was noisey monroe shocks that was a well known problem , I ended up buying 2 replacement ones but Bilstein's which fixed it after getting knowhere with bmw who said it was a characteristic lol but all Main Dealers are the same , about 6 months on Bmw started to replace the top mounts with M340i ones which also seemed to fix it for owners, G42 is a great car and a lot closer to an M car than in years gone by , good luck with the Cupra
