I would just add the TSFI engine drives much better than the 1.8T so you dont need all that power for it to feel faster, I reckon the standard TSFI 200 is faster than a LCR 225 - IMO as I have driven both.

I wouldn't be suprised if it was the truth. If a car can't apply its power on to the road it can have all the power it likes. The LCR was a quick car, but there was an art to laying down its power. The new generation of car get the power onto the road so well.

Cant see it myself;)

Less power, less torque, more weight, 1/2 sec slower to 60mph, it has a 142mph top speed as opposed to 150mph

Cant see the reason as to why it would be quicker

I am looking at 330hp with exhaust and induction kit as my final numbers. Even stock the car pulls nicely to the redline without falling off.

After driving the car stock for these two weeks I am ready for a remap. The car is fast as is but it cries out for the remap.....

Those who have had the remap on the Cupra what is the difference between stock and remap in seat-of-the-pants feel?
The new cupra has a large bore exhaust as standard as well as a neat looking cat, where the power is lost i think is the huge back box and silencer. This is a large mass of air to shift. I'd like to see what the dp looks like.
I can't make out what the intercooling arrangement is as i cant see one... not behind fogs or in front of Rad (lots of space here) but maybe behind.

I think according to Autocar the new Leon Cupra (237bhp/1375kg) did 0-100mph in 15.3 seconds.

The Astra VXR which is 1318kg/ 237bhp gets 16.1 seconds.

The VXR is lighter but its poor tractability means it loses nearly a second to the Cupra.

Wasn't the old LCR significantly slower than these figures as standard? Hence why I assumed that the 2.0T FSi 200bhp may be on par with LCR.

I may be completely wrong, only conjecture, no fact.

I 'think' 0-100 was 17.2 secs for 225 LCR. I cant see the 197 FR being quicker than that tbh:shrug:

Who knows:shrug: With less power/torque and more weight along with being 1/2sec worse off on the 60 sprint, with a shorter top end, i would put £££ on 225 being quicker than the 197 FR.

Im sure ive read 18.9 secs for FR, cant remember where though:doh:

You're probably right:

Figures were as follows:

1) Audi S3: 14.5s
2) Mazda 3 MPS: 14.9s
3) Seat Leon Cupra: 15.3s
4) Astra VXR: 16.1s
5) Megane R26: 16.5s
6=) Golf GTI 200PS: 16.9s
6=) Golf R32: 16.9s
8) Focus ST: 17.0S
9) Civic Type R (new): 17.1s
10) Mini Cooper S: 17.6s
11) Clio 197 :17.7s
12) Pug 207GT: 24.0s
13) Fiesta ST: 24.1s
14) Panda Sport: n/a (100 not achieved!)

Some of the newer cars have come a long way in reducing times, but I suppose these figures were done on a grippy track, not the open road. That puts standard LCR in 10th place against todays new motors (which I'm surprised by). Obviously there are some LCR's on here that would head up the table (Songman comes to mind).

Sorry mate, my mistake:doh:

Jst re-scanned through the evo magazine review of the FR and it runs the 0-100 in 17.7  Very respectable indeed:)

So near identical performance, especially considering the slower 0-60. Wonder how much these cars chip upto?

sandwiched in between air con rad and engine rad at the front.

I wonder how much of the TFSi's gains are through engine improvements, and how much are through traction. As you say the TFSi is 25bhp down, and heavier, so almost all of the improvement must be coming from off the line traction. Can't see the aeros making a difference. Suppose gearing may make a difference to. Actually its too much of a bag of worms to call.

Cool, so it seems they've just stuck the S3 engine in it and called it 237 (maybe so they don't take sales away from the S3?). So far I've seen 261, 264 and 267 from standard new Cupras.

Maybe finally some people won't call BS every time a Star dyno is posted! ;)
