Afternoon all, I have just bought a used Exeo ST SE Tech, upgraded from a mk4 golf as now need an estate due to a forthcoming baby!
I had a quick look round the site before buying and just have a few niggles I want to get advice for!
Firstly MPG, so far I'm not that impressed, averaging about 42-43 unless driving REALLY carefully when I can just hit 50, my golf was regularly seeing 65 when driving carefully.

Secondly, when starting the car the ignition key seems to stick and needs a right good fiddle to get it to turn, anyone else come across this problem?

There are a few bits I want to do, scuttle tray and fan windscreen washers, but open to suggestions on mod ideas!

I live in Devon and see a couple Exeo's around, perhaps someone on here?

Pleased to meet you all!

I have the ST Sport Tech 170 and the MPG is pretty bad really, we're disappointed with it and was expecting more.

I regularly get high 30s and low 40s even on a 600 mile round trip driving on the motorway, 41mpg is what we got.

Apart from the MPG the rest of the car is fantastic :)

New Member, New Exeo owner

Hi,

I bought a 62 Reg Seat Exeo 2.0 CR TDI Sport Tech Saloon on 6th May 2015, and I absolutely love everything about it.

My best mate suggested this model when I told him that I was looking to buy a Passat to replace my Noddy Car. He now drools whenever he sees it!

I'm still finding out how everything works but I'll grateful for any help, should I need it.

Cheers

Hi BigPete,

I live in Okehampton so you might have seen me around in my Exeo as I drive all over Devon for my job.

Youve not said which engine you have but I know the 170 isnt particularly fuel efficient, however Im getting 55-60 from my 143 engine. The ignition key only does that to me when the steering wheel has moved with the key out of the ignigtion (if that makes sense).

Other than those niggles I reckon you should enjoy your Exeo :)

Thanks guys, I've got the 143 engine, I commute between Exeter and Chivenor (Barnstaple) most of the time and have yet to get 50mpg. I've had a read around the forum and have now turned the ECON button on and am trying to drive carefully using cruise etc and we'll see what happens now!

The ignition is bugging me, it's almost like the steering lock has engaged and the key won't turn but in reality it hadn't engaged and the steering wheel hadn't been turned.

Okedave I'll keep my eye out for you!

Welcome to the forum.

Haven't found the fuel consumption on the Exeo much different from my previous Passat.
With a 60 Litre tank I used to get 500-550 miles between fill ups in the Passat, my 143 Exeo with a 70 litre tank is giving me 600-650.
I did notice the computer MPG display used to show higher figures on the Passat, could be the Exeo computer is just a bit more honest
What's the service history like on yours? A good proper service can make a big difference to your MPG.

Scuttle tray and fan jet washers are a really easy mod, but check if your washer jets are heated or not before ordering (heated will have an electrical wire going into them as well as the water pipe).

Hi,

I have a 2013 ST sport tech 170 and am happy with my mpg.
10 miles to work on windy 40 + 60 mph limits gives me 52-57mpg on average.
150 mile trips on A roads and motorways is around 45-47mpg (80-85 mph on the motorway).
I seem to get 650,miles to a tank and I don't drive slow as my front tyre wear rate will show that!

I've had the car 18 months now and love it, I have done the scuttle bits and wrapped the badges in white vinyl wrap as my car is white.

Enjoy yours

Hey Lads

I have a 2009 170 Sport Saloon and I'm averaging 35-40mpg on roughly 20 miles per day stop/start carriageway traffic. on a good 150 mile trip will average 45mog. I am quite impressed by this considering the output of the engine. I've always had Hot Hatches 1.8VT Cupra R Ibiza & EP3 Type R Civic and laughing at what I am saving in my Exeo plus still having a bit of punch when I want to have fun. Brilliant Car
