New Exhaust gone brown? Pics of cobra fitted to LC180

Just wondered if any of you know why after just a week my tailpipe has turned this colour?

Its a remapped stage 1, Leon Cupra AUQ 180 , unsure of bhp now because the guy i got it off lost the map printout, its booked in at REVO/R Tech 5th April.

This is the 6x4 oval no baffle backbox fitted to my car for those who wondered what the Cobra systems look and how they fit in the bumper recess.

Its resonated centre section, de cat and downpipe, 3 inch all way through, stainless steel.

Why has it gone that colour though so soon?

Is it rust?
If its a stainless system then heat will turn metals different colours dependant on how hot they get.
Straw or 'brown' as you call it is the first colour change to happen it then gets darker and starts to go blue as the heat its exposed to increases

Rust? Its stainless steel a week old

Ill try polishing it up, this cars got some evil messed up map on it, the more videos i see of cupra 180s being driven is starting to make me wonder what power mine is putting out and what the hells been done to it !

Have you tried using a metal polish on it? See if that brings it back.

As mentioned above it's the heat. It happened to my exhaust i used some autosol metal polish and it cleaned it up.

Ive just posted up another thread of the car in action, 0 - 60 pretty quick lil car so hoping its just that and nothing to do with it running wrong !

I clean mine when i wash the car then give it a coat of wash each time.

Keeps the outside and inside of the tailpipe nice and shiney

Ive just wiped it over with some fine finishing polish and a microfibre, looks brand new again, thank god ! Didnt bother doing the inner bit seems a bit pointless as it will go black again soon.

hey peeps had mine fitted today at 1pm and by 4pm had gone yellow!!!!

I understand people saying to clean it up, but you cant clean it everyday...what happens if you going to a show and when you get there the car looks immaculate but the exhaust is bright yellow!

Any of you folks thought about sending the cat back...back?

i think mine turned gold by the time i got home lol i just give it a quick rub with autosol when i wash it, it comes straight up.

i had a scorpion on one of my old car and tht use to go gold and polish up fine i av a cobra on my lcr and goes gold.

mine doesnt go gold as quick as i did when first fitted it and still polishes up like new

mine gets abit black but i think thts coz it overfuel abit, but think it goes gold when it get really hot i clean my car weekly wash the tip every time and polish i once a month i doesnt get tht bad no golder then yours is in the pic.

Once mine went brown and i polished it once, it never went that dark again, it lost a little shine, but only went brown the first time it was driven, guess something to do with it being new, mines on ebay at the moment as i took it off my cupra and its shiny as it was when brand new, after 400ish miles use..

It goes brown due to lack of CAT ... so the petrol fumes are now staining the tailpipe ... mine goes brown quickly but is easily washed off.
