As will the Mk5 Ibiza...:(

No independent rear suspension for any of us. Unless they surprise us on the A1 !

A1 could still possibly have it. Although this time round reviewers have actually been saying that the ibiza has a good sporting chassis, and thats on the crap models!

didn't the Civic Type R go back to a solid rear axle?

Wear rate on the full independent rear suspension is not good on VAG's. Ran my rear tyres out on the inner edges in 11k miles. Handling is good, but at a high price.

Even the new A4's ride is supposed to be so-so, not what you'd expect after the effort to move the engine back and extend the wheelbase. Not sure what VAG group are up to with chassis dynamics just recently.

Only hatchbacks I can think of with full independant rear suspesion at the moment is the golf/leon/tt/a3 megane sports and mini cooper s.

It seems like the new type r clio sport etc are ditching fully independant setups.

P.S

All the articles I have read about the new A4 say nothing but good things. Infact sportauto lapped quicker in the new 3.2 A4 round the hockehiem ring than the S5, and achieved near enough the same time as the 335i.

Yes and the uk's the only place it did go back to it (maybe all of Europe i'm not sure but it has a full independent set up in japan and america).

the japense version is completely different to ours they are different cars. Theirs is a 4 door family car, ours a hatchback, and the american version is coupe like.

point in question, will seat have a stand at the london motor show next month as i am likely to be going and just wondered if i can get some good pics

More on the cupra

excellent, judging by the pics i really hope they produce the bocanegra as the cupra does not seem to look that great imo

thats not the cupra its the FR. Once FR is revealed seat will start to work on cupra. VAG always works in that order.

Thats what I thought. FR Had similar bumpers to the starderd car aswell, and the cupra will have an oval tailpipe

see the FR has still got them awful rear lights  hope the cupra wont have them or they will be the first thing that will be changed when i get one! i love the lights on the mk4 gives it a sportier feel, these new ones just seem to age the car
